I toured with Chad and STRONGLY recommend not only Alaska Photo Treks, but if you can get him as your guide, I'd say you've scored! Chad makes it his personal quest for you to see Aurora. In addition to chasing the lights like a person on a mission, he relies on data to show the strength of the lights and identifies locations as only a local can do to maximize the experience. I've been chasing Northern Lights all around the world for years and FINALLY I've seen what I've been looking for in so many cool places. Thanks to Chad, my obsession is now locked in 🙂 OH! And don't think just because your trek is over that you've necessarily ended your adventure! He gave me great advice last night after I'd left Anchorage for Fairbanks...and I saw Aurora again thanks to his guidance and suggestions.

This was a wonderful experience! Our guide, Terry, took us to popular scenic spots and secret hidden gems of the area, where we were able to get some really special photographs. She gave us simple tips and advice that helped us improve our photography skills exponentially! Terry was knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating, and so helpful. We spent several hours driving to different locations and taking photographs. Even though the conditions were rainy, we got some incredible shots. Thanks so much for a wonderful photography, oriented experience in Alaska!

Having recently started getting back into a SLR camera I was looking for a unique experience that would help me learn more about the myriad of features on my DSLR. This adventure did not disappoint. Although the weather was quite poor - windy, rainy, and very cloudy - we still found a number of interesting places. My guide - Terry - was very knowledgeable and explained the many features and settings of my DSLR in easy to understand terms. It was exactly the kind of personal and interactive instruction I was looking for to get out of the "automatic mode" of the camera. The next day I had another adventure scheduled to Spencer Glacier. I was able to apply what I learned from Terry and came away with some great pictures. I feel like Terry provided me with a good foundation to build on and I can't thank her enough for the experience. I would love to take another of these adventures the next time we are in the area.

Ben and Terry were super helpful and we had a great time! Saw beautiful Northern lights outside of Anchorage. If the Aurora forecast isn't good, and you're on the fence, you should go anyway - after all, you only get so many chances, and it might just work out. Our forecast for the night was bad, but we gambled on it and worked out great.

Our guide Glenn was amazing! He took us to a few amazing spots and got some amazing photos of our group! We got to see a moose, a sandhill crane, and some awesome long exposure shots of a waterfall outside of Turnagain! Would definitely go again on a nighttime excursion with them!

Great experience!!! Highly recommend, Chad and Ben were honest people with integrity!! We went and we did see some northern lights! It was cool. They have us told to see them in the future. These guys are knowledgeable and honest! Clearly they are doing it for the joy to share not money. They were up front that it was possible and a fair chance to see them that night, which is why they didn't cancel the tour. We saw them and it was still amazing. Glad you guys run an honest group with great people. Chad gave us the app name so we can have good chances of seeing them throughout our stay in Alaska!! Ben was very knowledgeable and took great shots to share with us!! I will take this tour ONLY with your company on my next adventure. Honesty and integrity are two very important traits. You guys nailed it!!

I was able to do both a day and night tour with this professional, and highly knowledgeable company. During the day I spent time with Carl, a military veteran, and learned several things about my camera’s features and how to actual make the adjustments for the time of photos I personally would enjoy. Carl also was very knowledgeable about the Anchorage area and its history so we were able to capture some unique moments on the tour. The night tour was with Ben and Colin which are also both very personable and professional. They were able to manage a group of viewers, equipment, and keep everyone warm at -6 degrees F. There was a mix-up in my booking and it was fixed and I was refunded for the rental camera I was not able to use. My only other issues were the campiness and length spent in the vehicles. I do highly recommend working with this company because they do enjoy helping people make the most of the experience and opportunity to capture the truly beautiful and mystical environment of Anchorage, Alaska and the Northern Lights.
