I am a new CNA in training. I was met by the most friendly staff you could ever want to meet. The residents are all well care for. An because it's a smaller facility it has a home type feeling to it. Which I feel is great for the residents. I believe I will love it here. And I'm like looking forward to doing my training here!

My 54 year old mother-in-law was unfortunately sent here from Ball Memorial Hospital for rehab after having several strokes. Sadly, she only declined while in this facility's care. At one point she had to go to the hospital due to a severe kidney infection. The hospital doctors said she got this infection due to unsanitary conditions and repeatedly being given medications on an empty stomach. She was unable to feed herself so we knew there was some form of neglect going on. Of course this facility knew nothing about her condition and DIDN'T EVEN CALL US to let us know she had been sent to the hospital...
At this point, I am 7 months pregnant, and my partner and I are trying everything we can to sort out some sort of long-term care for his mother; knowing in a couple months we would also be bringing home our son. This facility called my partner into an office with 4 other people and proceeded to tell him that we needed to sell our house to pay for her care. He explained to them that we had a baby on the way and there was no way we could sell our home OR care for his mother at home with a newborn baby. They were very unsympathetic, rude, and it honestly came across like they personally wanted our house and possessions? It was very strange.
My mother-in-law continued to decline, and we ended up having to bring her home on Hospice. We are young, and have never dealt with any sort of long-term care or hospice situation before, so we had several questions because we wanted to ensure she would be properly cared for once we brought her home.
We came to the facility to speak to someone about the care plan and were treated as a complete and total inconvenience to them. I had to MAKE the social worker step aside into an office and speak with us. In this office was two other employees; one of which was a horrible woman named SUMMER PENROD. I'm not even sure what her position there is/was. During this meeting, she proceeded to interrupt us when we were asking questions, with short and demeaning answers, and treated us with no respect, compassion, or care. At one point she even yelled at us, saying "SHE CANT STAY HERE" in the most hateful tone when discussing the care plan.
Overall this facility is very poorly ran. They had SEVERAL outbreaks of COVID-19 and did nothing to prevent further infection. I could go on and on about how awful this place is. They really made the end of my mother-in-law's life difficult for our entire family, as if it wasn't difficult enough losing her at the same time we were having our son. Please do not put your family member in this facility if you can help it. This facility is owned by the same people who own Parker Health & Rehab in Parker City, IN and Bethel Pointe Health & Rehab in Muncie, IN, so be wary of those facilities as well.

My mom has stayed in here 2 time now, she has liked the nurses and AIDS that have worked with her both times. The only problem she has had is the food, she doesn't care for the food that they feed them. She always says that they feed them too many eggs for one thing and she's not big on eggs but other food she doesn't like either that they feed the people there but she doesn't go home hungry.

I had a hard time with my mom coming here at Albany Rehab after hip surgery and she wants to go home with me every day. She is not eating (the food sounds like it would be good but it’s not) They Never bring the food that we request for mom😳 and sometimes it tastes bad like spoiled and needs to be thrown out!! Her bed foot part and head was raised so she wasn’t able put them down to stretch out to make her hip stop hurting. They did that so she wouldn’t scoot down on the bed so they didn’t have to pull her back up I guess. And I know when she sleeps she don’t move unless she gets up to go to the bathroom. She feels depressed and she wants to be home. She would do so much better at home like anyone would. With Home Health care and rehab she will get one on one personal help. And we are always there to help her too. Most everyone are nice some more than others. Beeps in the hall all the time that goes on for quite some time before someone comes. My mom don’t use her call button much because she doesn’t like to bother anyone and like I said above it takes forever for anyone to come so she will just go to the bathroom on her own. Today 2/25/23 we kept waiting and waiting for her lunch and they hadn’t brought any and it was 1:30p. Not one came in to check her blood sugar either. They said they had already thrown everything out but they could make something. I said none of the food tastes good so I went to buy her something somewhere else. It’s ridiculous how they can forget someone’s food.

My mother has been staying in there for almost a year now she's pretty happy in there she doesn't care for the food too well in there for the most part once in a while it's good but a lot of times it's not the greatest but she likes most of the nurses and the staff in there and it's a lot cleaner than most of the other nursing homes that I have been in and I appreciate that they take care of her pretty well most of the things that have happened to my mother in there is her own fault because she doesn't listen to him so everything that I have seen and heard in there I do like except for the food thank you very much
