Took the train ? from Springdale to Van Buren for the day. The tickets ? we got were for the lower level on the way to Van Buren and the upper dome level on the way back. What a fun day! Lots of opportunities to meet and chat with those around you, nice snack box on the way back, pastry on the way there. Arrive early and take the time to see the small museum. The conductor was friendly and knowledgeable.

What a great experience this was! We took the hour long train ride from Springdale to Johnson. My two year old absolutely loved it. Thank you to Conductors Kaleb and Dawn for making our experience extra special! We were in the silver feather car which seats your party at a table which was nice. During the ride the conductor tells you stories and facts about the railroad. The views from the window were very nice and the whole experience was low stress, relaxing and fun. Would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a fun activity that’s out of the norm!

Very excited About going on a fall train ride, the train was late, but no worries. As we boarded the train and looking for our assigned seats, we were told sit anywhere. WHAT? I picked the seat I wanted when I bought my ticket. There were people on the back of the train “yelling” to the people they came with at the front of the train car. Then we had a lady who was making announcements we could not understand. So all of the interesting things to know and see, we could not understand.

By booking on a Thursday we thought we could get one of the premium cars, but some company booked all the premium cars. The vintage car was OK. I wish there was leg room for us and friends to sit facing each other. Enjoyed the history and the scenery. Glad we went. It was definitely a long day. We left Springdale around 9:15 a m. We were supposed to pull out of Van Buren at 3:20 but it was almost 5:30 when we left. We felt a little like Gilligan on his "3 hour tour?". We had a 4+ hr drive home, being in our 70's and not wanting to drive late night, we stayed in Joplin overnight.

Review on getting on the train. We loaded in van Buren. My girlfriend and I waited to get on the train to avoid the rush. Surprise! No one sat in their assigned seats. You sit anywhere. We did not like that after choosing seats online.

Loved this little fall adventure. We bought the back car premium which allowed us to go out on the balcony. The information given on the way down was amazing and Interesting. The foliage gorgeous . The snacks were ok nothing to speak of but nice. I would definitely go down to Vanburen during a festival like we did. It allowed us to experience the town shops and fall vendors. We ate at The Vault which I highly recommend ! Great Bacon cheeseburger and sweet potatoe fries dipped in Carmel. They are on train time so don’t be in a rush. We were supposed to leave at 8 left at 820 am. Suppose to leave VB 215 left at 315. All in all it was a peaceful fall experience.
