My first time here 4.22.2023
As you first start walking here lots of song birds. Bird watchers paradise
I loved the trails and the river. Lots of trails here. Did about 5.6 miles and still didn't do all the trails. I will definitely return
There is an overlook. The trees though beginning to leaf this time of year blocks the water below. Will go back in fall when the leafs change in color

This place is GORGEOUS. I never thought I'd be into birdwatching, but they have SO much more here - beavers, turtles, etc. And they're very comfortable with humans so they'll get close and are used to cameras!

The other day I went walking along the main trail and passed by a turtle laying her eggs! It was SUCH a beautiful and humbling experience. I tried to stay back and quiet so as not to stress her out, but I managed to get a BEAUTIFUL video before leaving her to it. And when I came back around she was done and resting

I took some screenshots of the video as I can't seem to post it and added them below as well as a few others

I remember the spot and plan to come by every so often to see if I can catch them hatching

The whole place is just a beautiful sanctuary for animals and humans to interact calmly and safely. If you keep your eyes peeled you can see amazing things here

This park is incredibly well maintained with clear markings of where the trails are and free maps for you to use. There are benches and picnic tables all over if you need to take a break. Most of the trails are flat and easy but, some are moderate hills. This is a great park to go hiking if you are recovering from some form of injury.

Beautiful walk! Love this hiking trail. Gorgeous stream nearby and lovely birds/shrubbery.

Good place for bird watchers and people who like quiet hiking trails. There is a little covered bridge at the start of the walk that has maps of the trail available as well!

Park to the north.
The beginning of the sanctuary is several areas of fields and grasslands leading to the center in the middle to help with bird watching over the fields. Deeper in are well maintained trails at least 3 feet wide and are a nice and easy walk through the woods. There also seems to be some areas near the south of the sanctuary that are still closed off due to the storm damage unfortunately.

Great place for quiet walks through sunny open fields, shady forested hills, and along the Pomperaug river of course. Trails are not very difficult and are family-friendly. The red barn and the herb garden are a great place to rest and observe the birds. Nice place to spend an hour or two during any season of the year
