Had such a great experience with Concept Effects for our wedding. Bryan was great and made things so easy. The lighting added such an elegant feel to the ballroom. We got so many compliments on the first dance on the clouds! Everything they did for us was absolutely beautiful. Our DJ Chad was awesome, we left the playlist up to him and he killed it. The dance floor was full the entire night. So happy with every detail they put together. I will definitely recommend them to all our friends and family.

I dislike having to give poor reviews, but I would be absolutely lying if I said I was at all satisfied with the service that Concept Effects provided to us on our wedding day. I give honest reviews (most of which are 5 stars but not this one). My wedding day was perfect in my book because I married my best friend, and I won’t let my experience with Concept Effects ruin it for me. If you are at all considering this company, please go back to the website, spreadsheet, or contact list. This is not a company you want to book with.
Everything up to the day of my wedding was adequate. Communication, getting a look at the bus (from the outside because they didn’t have a key…), and emailing back and forth was professional. DON’T LET THIS FOOL YOU.
Week before, my sister wanted to make a party bus playlist and asked if it had an aux cord. I then emailed Bryan and Ryan who both confirmed that there was an aux cord in the bus we would be driving. We also gave them a list of the locations (name and address), approximate times, and order of stops to ensure seamless transportation with the signed contract way ahead of time and again a week before the wedding with an itinerary.
Here is how the day of was supposed to go:
Pick up at church 2:30pm, Pictures at fountain at 2:45pm, 7Eleven at 3:30, Bar at 4, Forest Preserve pictures at 5, Arrive at reception at 6:30. This was not at all possible due to Concept Effects.
The bus was over a half hour late to pick us up at the church. This was explained to me by Ryan that, “What we can't plan for, is heavy traffic prior to arrival for our clients” and that’s unfortunate. I understand traffic happens but being from the area one should know Chicagoland area is heavy traffic and this should be accounted for. For starters on the bus, the bus driver had no idea how to work aux cord (it wasn’t working for us to just plug the cord into the iphone). He offered no help, no call, no way of helping us have music for the party bus. This was disappointing. He also wouldn’t start driving until everyone was behind the first row of seats which is understandable for safety, but then make sure the driver knows how to set up the aux cord. We had people trying to fix it for 15+ minutes and it still didn’t work. Also, every single time we went to go to another location, the bus driver slowly typed in the address after asking where to next and someone from our bridal party would have to look it up and tell him and give him directions along the way. Luckily halfway through, my sister’s boyfriend figured out how to change the input from a random thing that was not common sense or else all the technology-filled 20 to 30 year-olds would’ve been able to figure it out asap. All of the above delays caused us to miss out on pictures at the forest preserve. This was greatly unfortunate. I only have 1 picture with just me and my bridesmaids and my youngest sister isn’t even in it. We would have had a TON more photos if the bus was on time and timely with transitions. While we are out taking photos, the bus driver should be figuring out how to get to the next place, not waiting until everyone is seated to ask for an address to put in his GPS. I paid good money for an AMAZING PHOTOGRAPHER (check out Still & Motion Media, they will not disappoint) and not being able to utilize a second location was seriously disappointing. After being truthful in emails with Ryan and Bryan, I was told that I would be credited $200 for future bus services, but why would I want $200 to a company that does not provide the quality of service I paid for initially? I asked for the $200 to be refunded and received NO RESPONSE in regards to this.
I truly want to emphasize that I usually give 5 stars to those companies that deserve it but the quality of Concept Effects was definitely below 5 star standards. This is an honest review that I wish I didn’t have to write. Please save yourself the disappointment and don’t choose Concept Effects for your transportation needs.
