What a gem! Two perfect days that exceeded all expectations. Super friendly staff, laid back vibe - all in amazing venues - gorgeous woodwork - even the room hallways were beautiful. We stayed in king suite in main lodge with meadow view - beautiful sleigh bed and more fine woodwork and leather sofas, fireplace and balcony with amazing views of meadow/mountains and stream. Every meal was delicious- ate at all restaurants- the Ranch House and saloon is a must try. We shared the wagyu steak sampler - best steak we’ve had. We hiked both days on ranch trails and did 1.5 horse ride - just awesome! Great for couples, girl/guy get aways. The ranch is so big with so many amenities that we often felt we had the place to ourselves. Yes, it is not inexpensive, but it is a boutique destination and consistent with similar type properties.

I photographed a winter elopement here several years ago and it was absolutely stunning. The staff were super helpful, even when someone's car got stuck in the snow! The food was great, the indoor accommodations were cozy, and the clients I worked with couldn't have been happier with their choice.

Photographing that elopement convinced me to bring my husband back the following year to stay there for a long weekend. And let me tell you, it's even more fun when you don't have to work! Hopefully we'll be able to return again with our son. Highly recommend Devil's Thumb Ranch to anyone looking for a wedding venue or simply a place to get away from the bustle of city life for awhile.

Great place. We have done 4 years in a row now, and have had a great time each year (family of 4, kids 8 and 10yrs). Last year the service declined a bit (2024), but this year the service has been back to 5 stars and matching what our 2022 and 2023 experiences were previously. Will surely be returning next year, and the year after. Beautiful grounds, lodge, and the Ranch House is spectacular (best steak I’ve ever had).

The property itself is stunning—beautifully maintained grounds, well-designed rooms, and a great variety of activities in a picturesque location. These aspects alone would bring me back. However, the overall service, communication, and food fell short of expectations. Some activities were canceled without clear notice, and there was confusion around sign-ups and extra fees. Dining was limited, and we had a few issues with service and food quality, especially at Heck’s Tavern. That said, the spa was excellent, and some staff were great. With improvements in communication and consistency, I’d definitely be open to returning.

A friend recommended we come here for our first crack at cross country skiing, but we found far more to like than just the skiing (which was fabulous!). The grounds were stunning and really made the trip worth it. There were tons of trails, all well groomed. Our instructor, Tripp, was excellent. He knew just how to walk us total beginners through the steps and was always helpful and encouraging. He also was our guide on the Suncat tour. He knew about every aspect of the facility. The staff in general was helpful and friendly, and they often worked as a team to make sure we were taken care of. We enjoyed the sleigh ride, the spa, and the jacuzzi (great mountain views). We also liked just reading on the second level of Heck's Tavern with its huge picture windows. The food at both restaurants was very good. We will definitely be back.

What an absolutely wonderful place and stay. Happy, welcoming, smiling team from servers to front desk. It was so beautiful and the spa was amazing. We loved the activities they offered from ft tire bicycling to nordic skiing; especially loved the horseback riding and sleigh ride! The rooms were very comfortable and next level with heated floors. Definitely recommend staying here! What a fantastic place! Thank you DTR!

We had a great stay at Devil's Ranch - its warm, friendly, and just the right amount of rustic charm but still felt clean and upscale. There is a ton to do and is very well thought out. We tried x-country skiing for the first time (rented gear on site that was very nice for $25) on the peaceful grounds followed by a massage where the facilities were impeccable and again the right combination of rustic and modern. We enjoyed the onsite restaurant's live music and fire and enjoyed our room too as it felt like we were at an old farm house rather than a hotel. It was an easy and fun getaway from Denver and we found it to be worth the money and will definitely be coming back. Oh and the view from the hot tub is awesome, especially after a ski day!

This was my first visit to the Devils Thumb Ranch and I can't wait to go back ! We stayed in the main lodge and our room was very comfortable and so convenient to everything. The activities were easy to book and the people were super nice and helpful. We took a classic lesson and a skate lesson from Marie who was an amazing instructor . We did not have a car so ate all our meals on site. Towards the end we were laughing about going back to Hecht's to eat... but honestly the food was really good. If you had a car you could drive a short distance to the cute town of Fraizier where there are different restaurants . Honestly though we didn't mind just staying put. We were there Sunday - Thursday and had a couple of bluebird days to explore the miles of Nordic ski trails. So peaceful and beautiful . Yes, cell service might be spotty but I don't think that is a bad thing. Nice to unplug and truly enjoy nature and the quiet. We did go to the spa one afternoon and had great massages. We also took advantage of a complimentary YOGA class one morning. The hot tub was also nice at the end of the day to ease some sore muscles. So many other activities to do on our next visit. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to get away , relax and enjoy some time outdoors. A great place for couples, family , friends or even solo ! We used Home James for our shuttle serve and they were right on time and easy to work with.
