Great location with lots of learning materials for the dam, the area, and how the landscape/surrounding area was started and grew into what it is today. Lovely LEED Gold building with really beautiful architecture and nice nature walks. Would love to visit again and check out more of the museum portions as we showed up right before they closed! They were very kind and let us stay a few minutes late, but still, know when it closes before you head their way!

This is such a hidden gem, especially if you have kids! Education and interaction all in one place!! The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. Bonus: beautiful scenery and right down the road…
Don’t forget to visit the Shepard Hills Fish Hatchery!!! You have the option to feed the trout for 25 cents.

A great activity for a rainy day in Branson. This spot has dozens of hands-on exhibits for all ages, along with fascinating displays about the area's history before and during the construction of the dam.

At one interactive station, I tried my hand at being a dam operator… and let’s just say, my decisions led to some serious flooding in the White River valley. Good thing I run an inn and not the dam!

We also watched the 23-minute film they offer—it was well done and definitely worth seeing.

There's even a viewing deck where you can take in the beautiful scenery around the dam.

I enjoyed stopping here. One of my favorite was it has an observation deck with a nice view of the lake and dam. Plenty of free parking. Entering the facilities, I was greeted by rangers and given basic info of where things were in the building: bathrooms, theater (info of why/how the dam was built), informative displays of the dam, viewing deck. There was an elevator, strollers/wheelchair friendly. An interesting and informative place for both kids and adults. I spent about an hour going through the place viewing the informative displays, movie, etc.

This was fun and educational the kids enjoyed it, but also go to the other side to get pics from both sides of the dam

Really neat little visitors center, it’s free too! The views are amazing, you can even walk down to a little shore at the edge, some people were swimming. It was super clean and new looking, an elevator to make it accessible. Three floors with incredible views and the bottom floor has hands on exhibits.
