Ate downstairs. Early dinner on a Friday night. Truly one of the few meals that we raved about each course that was served. Not sure I've ever experienced a complete meal. The crab dip appetizer, amazing. The salad, blue cheese dressing was by far the most incredible. It was so good we bought a pint and have been making dishes all week with it. The stuffed shrimp was great too. Add an attentive staff and we were so glad we stopped in. This was our second time in the area just stopping in, we will be back!!

My husband and I had a fantastic Spring house salad which comes with the most delicious date bread! Of course the famous French onion soup was so good!! Everything was fresh and the portions were generous. Our waitress Kelly was fabulous! Very personable and efficient. She was there at just the right time to refill drinks and check on us. We did not feel rushed at all.

This place is wonderful the rooms are quaint but we'll appointed for the rates. It's close to the cemetery and some other good dining. And the tavern has fantastic food both in the fine dining and the downstairs tavern environs. The breakfast is also very good would definitely stay again.

We dined here for my birthday celebration - a family of 5. This structure was build in 1776, so it's a historic building. It's rustic, antique, quaint and well maintained. Everything appears original, you can feel the age of this place, but again, it's well maintained and a big part of the experience. We dined in the lower level, the Tavern. The ambiance is incredible, you feel like you walked into a movie. The servers are dressed in period correct attire and service was excellent. The food was delicious, with lots of different options. I particularly loved their warm soft dinner rolls, their version of French Onion Soup smothered in cheese and the Open Face Reuben. My three teen kids also enjoyed it, no complaints from the family. The room was nice and dim and mainly candlelit. Very cool! It’s located in historic Gettysburg and you feel like you stepped back in time. This is a great spot for a lunch or dinner with the family or even a unique date night. You should also check out the Gettysburg Museum Of History, about 3 minutes away by car. I highly recommend visiting Dobbin House Tavern.

While pricey, this place was great! Such a neat establishment-so much history! Food was delicious and our waitress Beth was top-notch and helped us make the right decision on our meals! Highly recommend! I had the pork loin in a raspberry sauce and my hubby had the Crab Meat ala Dobbin

This is my favorite place to go out to eat. Service is a 10 and food on point and the experience is amazing! I returned a month later because I am addicted to the French onion soup! The one lady ( I'm gonna say a manager in gift shop ) gave me a personal readers digest tour of the place with my hubby. I felt like royalty!! I hope she sees this and knows how blessed I felt picking this place for our valentine get away this year.

This was an amazing experience. My friend and I stopped by for a weekend in town and got dinner at the Springhouse Tavern, on a Friday evening. It was bustling!

We had exceptional service from Latoya (apologies if that’s not how it is spelled), our bartender, and she served us some delightful drinks!

That onion soup was unbelievably delicious. I think I may think about it forlornly for the rest of my life, now.

Thank you, Dobbin Tavern, for ruining all other onion soups.

I visited Dobbin House Tavern for lunch on a Saturday in February, and it was truly a majestic experience. The wait time was 25 minutes, which was reasonable for such a popular spot.

The building, dating back to 1776, offers a rich historical atmosphere, reflected in its architecture, interior, and even the attire of the servers. I chose to dine downstairs in the tavern, where the dim lighting, wooden tables, and chairs transported me back in time.

Food & Drink

The lunch and dinner menus are the same, which is great for consistency.

The menu itself includes historical background about the building and tavern, making it an entertaining read while waiting for food.

I tried the Sparkling Cider (available by the bottle as well)—refreshing and crisp.

My main dish was the Crab Cake Sandwich—I love the taste of crab, and this dish did not disappoint.

For dessert, I had Pecan Pie with Ice Cream—generously filled with pecans and minimal dough, which I appreciated.

One minor downside: dessert prices are not listed on the menu, and my pecan pie was $6.95.

Service & Atmosphere

The place was busy and lively, so servers were efficient and to the point, which I actually prefer.

Despite the crowd, the historical ambiance made the visit feel special.

The prices are reasonable, especially considering the historical significance of the location.
