By myself for a couple of days in San Francisco for the first time, I wasn’t sure where to start so I booked a free tour with Filip. They depart at 10am from Union Square every morning, and are easy to join. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and will for sure now book one for every city I travel to! Filip took us all over SF, from Union Square to China Town, through the financial district… he explained the history but also provided an interesting perspective on the SF mindset that sociologically led the state of California be the great hub of tech and tourism that it is now. I could have come five times and still not know what lays underneath some skyscrapers or not got a chance to taste some typical Chinatown treat! I’m grateful to Filip and definitely recommends the Free Walking Tours anywhere you go!

Absolutely brilliant tour with Filip on our first full day in San Francisco, and it was SO much better than we could have imagined. Filip's immense passion for the city and the great depth of his knowledge are apparent from the outset, and his enthusiasm in sharing his knowledge and his storytelling abilities are a joy to experience. The 2.5 hours seem to pass by in a flash, with not a boring moment. There are plenty of places to stop and listen, and also a toilet break for those who need it, so put on some comfortable shoes, bring water, sunnies, a cap/hat, possibly a jacket and an umbrella (this is SF, after all!) and prepare to immerse yourself in an utterly absorbing introduction to this fascinating city. Filip delves into marvellous detail about how the city came into being, the gold rush, the French connection, the origins of Chinatown, politics, earthquakes, the impact of the bay, all the way to the present cost of living, recessions, Silicon Valley, diversity and thoughts for the future. I cannot recommend this enough! Thanks Filip, this is probably the best walking tour we have ever done.

Filip was our guide and we had the best time! I've been to San Francisco two times before but only now do I have the feeling that I'm really connected with the city and its background. He is as knowledgeable as he is passionate about his adopted city and brought San Fran to life for us throughout our walk. What a fabulous walking tour with Filip. Filip was very engaging and was extremely knowledgeable, informative and friendly. He made the tour absolutely fascinating. We learnt so much about San Francisco in the three hours we were on the tour. We would highly recommend that everyone goes on this tour, it gave us a different perspective of San Francisco.
