I got hooked on the Battle of Gettysburg Podcast and tried to secure a tour with the hosts, Hessler or Lindblade. Unfortunately, they were not available, probably because we were scheduling for one of the busiest weekends at Gettysburg, the Remembrance Day Candlelight Illumination Weekend, Nov 15, 16,& 17. So I called the Gettysburg Foundation and they gave us Dennis. Let me tell you, our initial disappointment soon dissipated as Dennis was wonderful! Knowledgeable, easy going and quick witted, Dennis was the perfect fit for our silly group of four. Thank you Denis for bringing the battle to life for us and also accommodating our collective eccentricity. We would highly recommend getting Dennis if you can get him.

Amazing foundation to go to and see the guns, uniforms, and other items used during the war. The artifacts are well taken care of and displayed. Entrance is free but donations are accepted.

We had a wonderful tour of the Gettysburg Battlefield site from Licensed Battlefield Guide Debra Novotny. We signed up for a 3-hour guided tour and it was WELL worth the fee--we could have listened to her share amazing stories, historical context and fascinating background information all day. Debra knew our group was from Minnesota and Wisconsin and pointed out contributions from soldiers from our state all over the battlefield. She knew her history--and herstory--and happily answered our many questions with warmth and good humor. It was an engaging, personal tour customized to our interests and we enjoyed every minute. If Debra is your guide, you are guaranteed to learn everything you wanted to know about Gettysburg, with a kind, curious and personal touch. Her passion for this beautiful site, and for sharing its beauty with others, is obvious--and contagious!

Our tour guide Ed was awesome. We went on a 3 hour car tour around the battle field. He took us through each day and explained how the battle was shaped. His knowledge of the battle was phenomenal. Ed was able to answer every question we had. The facts of how the battle played out was very informative. My wife and I highly recommend this tour!

This is an excellent introduction to this three day battle leading to the preservation of our great country. My wife and I met Lynn, Tim, Dennis and Ray (Friends of Gettysburg Foundation) who spent time with us explaining the museum, battlefield and little known areas most visitors miss seeing. We have ancestors who fought at Gettysburg and they were able to direct us to the monuments erected commemorating their actions during the battle. These four knew the history and were able to explain in detail all aspects before during and after the battle. I suggest anyone vising should contact them to learn the best ways to visit Gettysburg! I highly recommend everyone to join the Gettysburg Foundation. this helps to preserve our history and provide special access to the museum and battlefield!

Loved the museum, show,.pictures and cemetery. But was very disappointed that you stopped selling the soldiers pray book. This is a part of war, soldiers everywhere will tell you the same thing, prayer is a part of there everyday life. It is so sad we took this out of our schools and now out of our battle fields. This was something I wanted to show my grandchildren, without faith this country is nothing, for this is what we were built on.

I cannot say enough positive things about our car tour guide Les Fowler. He was incredibly kind, informative and funny. Even things beyond just history, he gave us recommendations of places to visit and talked to us about some of the different interpretations of some stories in the area. He was super knowledgeable and I felt like I learned so much in just 2 hours. He really tried to make sure he could fit as much information in as he possibly could. Overall, we started our trip with this tour and because of him, it truly set us up for the most memorable experiences and made my birthday (and first trip to Gettysburg) the best weekend ever. He told us how much he loves what he does and you can just tell how much he cares about sharing the history in the area. I truly cannot wait to go back!
