Godspeed is a beautiful place to stay. The cabanas are really nice with comfortable beds and high-quality accessories (Dyson fan, luxurious linens, etc.) This is not your typical campground. The shower facilities are also great—large and spa-like, not what you’d expect. There’s a relaxing creek on the property and a very cool party barn for events. It’s close to shopping, restaurants, and Penn State’s campus (for events). The proprietor is a really nice guy and he makes sure you have anything you need. He’s also constantly improving the place. I’ve been three times and each time has been even better than the last.

Cannot thank Bart enough for an incredible weekend. He is the easiest person I have ever worked with. Very accommodating makes you feel at home. The property is beautiful. You cannot find nicer amenities. Everything was very clean and of excellent quality. This place is a nice hidden gem for an out of town getaway with a large group. I give Bart and the venue a 12/10. I think there are places in this world with real magic. Not like, disney-fairy-magic, but like that feeling you get when you're six and you see fireworks for the first time, ya know? There are places with hidden pockets of peace, of joy, that pop up just when you need them, where the food is always just a little better than it should be, where the night burns a little bit brighter.

Godspeed is such a place. And that kind of good? It sticks with you.

Like, the first time I was there, I experienced actual joy for the first time in three years, came home, quit my toxic job, and built a better life. Last time, I quit smoking (to be fair it's only been a few days, let's see if it sticks). This place has actually improved my life beyond just the fantastic experience of being there.

As a quick disclaimer, I may have ingested a bit of Armenian brandy poured from a glass pegasus while I was there, so take all the magic talk with a grain of salt--but really, this operation is wonderful. The hosts are kind, and caring, and attentive. The facilities are clean and well-stocked. The showers are a whole existential experience, in the good way.

I feel privileged to have been there, and will definitely be returning, with much excitement.

Spent 5 days here for a writers retreat and had a lovely time! They call their space #5starrustic, which actually is a perfect description--for example the bathhouse is separate from the rooms. Beware mosquitoes (especially near the creek) and if it has rained recently pack waterproof boots! Additionally, the owner Bart, and his family were all very helpful and knowledgeable. Support family-owned businesses!!

I cannot thank Bart, Susan, and Avery enough for their hospitality, and for making the annual Barrelhouse Writers Camp such an outstanding experience. The cabana was comfortable & well outfitted, the bathrooms were always clean, and the showers were the perfect way to begin & end each day. Our hosts were especially careful about making their residents feel welcome, and I'm looking forward to returning next year!

I stayed at GodSpeed as part of Barrelhouse Writer Camp June 2023. My stay was wonderful! Everything was new, clean, and thought out: a lovely fan in the private cabana where I stayed, shampoo and soap in the showers, bountiful snacks, and lovely meals. The grounds were fantastic for what I needed them for and the hosts were friendly and always around should guests need anything. I imagine their barn is a perfect place for an intimate wedding or family reunion, it even has a projector for movie nights! The GodSpeed owners think of everything. There's a fire pit, a golf cart should you need assistance from one side of the grounds to another, and they detailed an upcoming renovation of the riverbed and surrounding area. Can't wait to go back and bring friends!

GodSpeed Hostel is fantastic! Bart, Lyn, and their kids are incredibly nice. The whole family is generous, helpful, and so kind. The bathrooms and showers were kept very clean and tidy. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and I loved the hammocks on the deck! The property is beautiful, and I loved spending my mornings walking along the creek. I would love to return if I'm in the area again!

stayed at godspeed for a writing retreat and was absolutely in love! the cabanas were so cozy, with big windows and fans, as well as a futon and a sizeable shared porch for muddy shoes. hammocks everywhere, nooks for reading or writing everywhere, beautiful view everywhere. it rained a bit while i was there, but the inside spaces are gorgeous and homey so it wasn't a problem. the owners are so kind and made it clear they were there to help if we needed anything at all. an absolutely blissful little place. if i were looking to host something in the area, this would be a no-brainer.
