Very cool and convenient hotel. Nothing fancy but the interior design is original and creates an ambiance I found relaxing. The rooms are spacious with good beds. The restaurant is OK for breakfast. I cannot comment on other lunch and dinner. Parking is easy and inexpensive.

I stayed there for a night during a visit to the university. Parking was easy. The room was clean and nice and had a nice view. The TV was not working---I called the front desk and someone came very soon and fixed it. I had breakfast there in the morning---it was very reasonable priced and very tasty. They also let me park my car for a few hours after I checked out. Overall, quite happy with the hotel. Will gladly stay there again.

So the location is great, the history is great and the staff was wonderful. The only things I did not like were that there is a "destination fee" which I was told covers the water in the room, and a credit at restaurant, however as a silver member I am supposed to get to bottles free and did not get anything extra. I also dislike that I had to pay to park for the night, especially when they have a dedicated lot for the hotel, so it should be free. All in all, stay was good, and I will stay again, but those features bothered me and other guests I spoke to as well. Also, the room had stain on cieling like there was a leak recently.

Very cool hotel. Love the lobby and decor throughout the common areas and rooms. Comp drink tickets upon arrival and free coffee tickets to use the next morning were a nice touch and very much appreciated. The rooms were well appointed and comfortable, including the lounge chair with an ottoman by the side of the bed. Mattresses were very comfortable. Actually slept through the night! Didn't eat dinner here, but enjoyed breakfast the next morning. Egg sandwich with sausage and cheese on a toasted brioche hit the spot before we had to hit the road.

The staff at the front were generally friendly and courteous. The room was clean and spacious.

The hotel automatically charges you $15 extra per night, on top of the room charge, which guests can redeem at the attached restaurant/bar area. Use it or lose it I learned.

However, what made my stay unpleasant was the curt and snarky old waitress Jodi M from the Trophy Room restaurant and bar part of the hotel.

I was told at check-in that the $15 charge per night can be used as credit at the restaurant/bar/cafe area of the hotel every night of a guest’s stay. The young receptionist who was helping me had clearly come in late for his shift because he had his school backpack on and was standing and leaning over the computer monitor rather than sitting down at the desk… Hasty to get me all checked-in, the only thing he tells me is that to utilize the $15 credit, I’m suppose to “charge the restaurant bill to my room” and that’s it…without any further steps/communication on how that process works. With my ignorance at the time, I don’t think much into it and I certainly don’t dig for more answers, because why would there be a problem? What could go wrong?!

Boy, was there a problem though! Later that evening, our group staying at the hotel decides to eat at the restaurant downstairs. It is convenient. Big mistake! The waitress we got, Jodi, was so cold and aloof the entire time. She never stopped to ask if we were enjoying our meal or if we needed a refill on our waters, drinks, etc. What made it all the worse is she asks us while walking backwards in the other direction if we were going to pay by card or cash—not knowing how the process works and seeing that she may be busy I shout out “card please.” It was clear she had no interest in providing us with adequate service. Later, she brings over the small credit card machine and after inserting my card and someone from the group asking, since she is actually still at the table with the card machine, how the $15 off works for guests, I learn that I should not have charged it to my card in the machine. I was suppose to tell her that I am a guest here and she would have processed the payment differently… I ask patiently if I can have it be refunded and she refuses to issue me a refund to then charge to my room. Saying it’s on me for not listening to what was told at the front desk during check-in. I tell her I didn’t know how the process works and how she didn’t even give me that option. And she says yes, you were told at check-in. You weren’t listening…Upset by this curt and dismissive interaction. I got up from the table and walked across to the front desk to just tell someone how uncomfortable of an experience I had. I wasn’t even looking for a solution. I was just deeply disturbed by that encounter and the rudeness from that waitress. I learned from the nice receptionist who was the one to offer it—that I can in fact refund the meal and charge it to my room to receive the discount. She helped me through this process.

In the end it worked out. The receptionist that evening was professional, kind, and sympathetic…But the interaction at the restaurant really soured the rest of my stay at Graduate Storrs Hotel.

Unpleasant hotel experience. It’s not a business friendly hotel. No nearby restaurants, will need a car. Front desk staff are warm, welcoming but highly inexperienced. Room service is well below average. Do not recommend this hotel unless you have an on campus event.

Nice hotel at a pleasant site next to UConn campus. I'd actually give it an overall 3.75 stars (google doesn't have that option). They automatically add a $15 destination fee which you can apply towards restaurant, but otherwise a sunk cost. The restaurant was closed when we got there early Sun evening. So we ordered coffee and oatmeal in the morning. Not a good value for the price. The person taking and filling order didn't know about coffee based dringks. She said she could make a mocha for my wife but gave her a double espresso with some added chocolate. It was a decent machine so had the capability.

Clean room. Friendly front desk. Good breakfast. NO DRESSER for storage of clothes! No work desk drawer. There wasn't in-room hotel documentation to list amenities. Do these people not know how to run a hotel?
