Quick 90 minute hike; path is maintained, with many rock steps and steep ascent to a beautiful rocky overlook. Then hike back down. Very popular with all ages and many dogs. Everyone nice and enjoying beautiful weather. Clean maintained port-a potty in parking lot at trail head.

It appears that once you reach the peak that you could continue on for hours. This may be due to the hike being part of the Appalachian Trail.

Went hiking with a group. Totally worth the sweat, the view from the top was amazing. Went after it rained, figured it'd be slippery, but it was just rocks.

Very pretty overlook. The hike up to the overlook was pretty steep but definitely doable. Trail continues past the overlook for a long while.

Beautiful overlook. The hike to get there was pretty steep but nothing too crazy. Our dog loved running up and down the steps and exploring.

We trekked to Hawk Rock from the Duncannon trail head of the AT. It was an uphill battle with a LOT of stone steps to climb. There were several places to stop and breathe or relax, and a couple spots off trail perfect for AT hikers to stay the night. We stopped to enjoy the scenery and the wildlife, so the hike up took us a couple of hours. On the way back down, we hiked in the dark and decided to take the trail that forked left and led to the trail head for Hawk Rock near the Duncannon watershed. It was much less rocky and more of a direct route down. There were still stone steps, but still an easier path. We walked the road back to our car which was only a 5 minute walk. All in all, a beautiful hike with an excellent view at the top. If I was doing a through AT hike, I'd definitely spend a night at Hawk Rock.
