Regarding Hilton Garden Inn Palm Springs/Rancho Mirage, like the saying goes, if I could give it zero stars, I would. Most unpleasant experience. I’m 66 years old and have stayed in a lot of motels and hotels in my day and this was definitely my worst experience ever. The only positive thing I can say about the place is that they have an impressive collection of Nelson lamps in the entry. But this makes no sense, actually, since there is absolutely nothing else about the place that evokes mid-century modern. Totally incongruous.||To begin with, it took the front desk person 15 minutes to check in the guest who arrived before me. Hard to understand how it could be that complicated. Then, when I entered my room I immediately noticed a strong stench of mildew. It was coming from the shower curtain but the smell permeated the entire room. I would have asked them to replace it if I had stayed the night.||But the worst part was that there was a group of several male youths staying there, high school age, who were not accompanied by any adults that I saw. Not sure how a hotel can allow this? These youths were running up and down the halls and making all kinds of noise. My room unfortunately was near the front desk, which is where most of the commotion was. It was unbelievable that the staff seemed to be oblivious to the chaos.||At one point I opened my door to see what was happening and was almost hit by a flying Christmas ornament. I looked down the hall and there were Christmas ornaments everywhere in the hallway. It was obvious they were bowling down the hallway with the Christmas ornaments. I asked the desk person what was going on and she replied “what do you mean?”. I told her I was checking out and that I didn’t want to see anything on my credit card bill and she said “It’s 9:30 pm, I have to charge you for one night” to which I replied, “I will give you the worst review ever”, but she just looked down and smirked. Anyway, do yourself a favor and skip Hilton Garden Inn Palm Springs/Rancho Mirage!

The bed was the most welcoming without a single crease. While the tub looks like there is some aging to it, the staff and chilled room made up for it. Cute little set up with the microwave fridge and coffee maker as well. Plenty of towels for being a king size bed, usually I don’t have enough.

You shouldn't have to beg the staff to turn the water heater up. I know it's all about cutting & keeping costs down but luke warm water isn't the way to take a nice HOT bath. The walls are thin so bring ear plugs. The extra blanket, full of holes, resembles that of Swiss Cheese. Careful walking around the bed too. The mattresses don't fit the dated bed frames properly that inturn, have you hitting your legs on it. Don't expect the AC to work~it didn't in 257.
Not only does the very poorly lit parking lot need lots of attention, the parking spots are very limited.
How would I describe the hotel?
H O R R I B L E ! ! !
Operating on a shoe string budget but taking advantage of the customers.
$300 plus a night? Greed at it's finest!!
Will we be back? NEVER!
The mostly polite staff deserves a raise for working in such a run-down place.

Dear Owner,
Thank-You for your reply. However, we both know talk is cheap, and 'sorry' doesn't fix things. Reading through the reviews, many of the problems I, too, experienced still have not been resolved. You purchased the 'palace' in 2013 according to public records.
Why fool the people?
It's past time the problems were resolved!

Don’t stay here. The AC is out in most of the corridors. Our room was 80° when we walked in and even though we cranked the AC before dinner it took until 2am to cool down to where we could sleep. I can smell mildew the moment we walked in. There’s no vent fan in the bathroom (guess that helps explain the mildew). The bed was hard and uncomfortable. The staff have all been lovely and the room, although dated, was well-cleaned. The “complimentary” breakfast was $16, and that didn’t even include a waffle, which would’ve been another $17. Hilton has really gone downhill. I am dreading spending another three nights here.

Positive: It was clean. Hot tub was nice. Negative: Broke my little toe on the bed foot. Wife knocked her toes also. The bed seems to have the feet too close to the edge. Wrap a towel around the feet.

Lobby/Common Area -
Fresh and clean smelling.
Lobby restroom is spacious and very clean and bright.  There is plenty okmf seating if you feel like working out of your room.
Filter water dispenser near elevators.

Outside perimeter 2 story hotel.  The front face area is clean and clear of debris.  However area by the EV charger and path between the pool and main building needs to cleaned up.  There were glass bottles and paper in the shrubbery.
The parking lot is huge with plenty of space to maneuver.
3 EV charging stations (2 Teslas and 1 EV)  Appears to be free of charge for Guests.

Staff
Front Desk Staff  - Very friendly.  Check in Process was quick and efficient.

Housekeeping Staff  - Friendly interaction.

Food Staff -
The Monday Host did not greet.  The gentleman was busy socializing with the Front Desk Agent, instead of seeing how the guests are doing or keeping the coffee area stocked.   It seems like he was doing the bare minimum.

The Tuesday Host (Angelo) was friendly and greeted us.  He made us feel welcomed.   He was informative.  Hats off to Angleo.
Angleo stayed active making sure the coffee station is stocked and maintained.

Shuttle Driver - NA

Food
$16 breakfast buffet or  menu.

Day 1 buffet is scrambled eggs, country style potato, bacon and linked sausage.  Cut fruit was watermelon and pineapple.  The eggs really tasted bland... thank goodness for hot sauce.

Same items for Day 2 buffet.  We did end up ordering an omelet.  Huge and totally stuffed...yummy.
Only negative... no alternative milk other than half & half.  So bring your own soy, almond or oat milk.

Honestly, the breakfast buffet is not worth the price.  I would order off the menu.

Gym/Pool -
The gym is pretty spacious and clean.  All equipment is in working order.  The dumbbell rack had all components.  Water is available.

The pool deck is clean but there were some towels on chairs.  The pool looks welcoming.  There is a hot tub, there were some people in there so no pics.

Guest Laundry -
1 each washer and dryer
$2.00 per wash load $1.50 per dryer load
Posted - 30min cycle time each (did not test)

Ice makers-
Only ice maker no vending machine (sign indicates a vending machine)Ice maker on ground floor was removed so the only ice maker available is on the 2nd floor.

Guest Elevators - 2 centrally located to the left of the front desk.  Car # 2 is a bit on the loud rickety side.  Stairs located right near the elevator

I travel a lot because of work and stayed over night with my co-worker. Personally I think this is a great place to stay when you’re in town! Restaurants and bars are walking distance and have nearby casinos and gym. The breakfast was great, would recommend the omelette for breakfast with the meats and spinach. Would come back again soon 🙂 ?

I just went to TripAdvisor and read the reviews about the hotel stating that the carpets were ripped and filthy. Rooms were dirty and old. And that there was mold in the bathroom! My Husband just had major surgery and he’s 72 years old and I got scared of bringing him to this horrible place.
I am a Hilton honors member and they would not cancel my reservation! I should’ve read the reviews earlier saying stay away from this old dingy place! Let alone bringing someone there after major surgery ;(Horrible, horrible customer service and apparently it’s a horrible place to stay!
