We booked the King Jacuzzi Suite well in advance for two adults and two children, expecting a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Unfortunately, from the moment we arrived, we were extremely disappointed.

First, the overwhelming smell of weed outside the hotel and in the lobby was off-putting. Once in our room, the issues continued:

The TV in the bedroom wouldn’t turn off unless unplugged.

The room was hot, and the thermostat (set to 60) did nothing to cool it.

There were no linens or pillows for the sofa bed, and it took nearly an hour for housekeeping to bring them—though they were friendly.

The "Jacuzzi" was just a large tub. When we pressed the button, it only made a loud muffler-like noise but didn’t work at all.

The ice machine was also not working....
It seemed to be one thing after the other leading to an uncomfortable stay.

For nearly $300 a night, we expected much better. The hotel is old, needs updates, and was definitely not worth the price. Would not stay again.

I had to be in downtown Scranton for business early one weekday, and this was the closest hotel. I also had some Amex quarterly Hilton credits that this stay allowed me to use. Ordinarily I stay at a nearby Marriott branded property, which is a relatively new construction and has been just fine.||I arrived shortly before the ordinary 3 p.m. check-in time, and the room I selected in the Hilton app was not cleaned or ready, so the front desk assigned me to a room on a lower floor, a view on the opposite side of the building from what I had selected, and a room much closer to the ice machine and the elevators (meaning more noise and traffic walking down the hallway).||The room I received ostensibly had been "cleaned" -- except for a prominent hair in the shower and a piece of cereal or snack food that the vacuum didn't pick up under the desk. The bathroom has two rolls for toilet paper, but housekeeping left a roll with only FIVE SHEETS of toilet paper on one roll, while the other roll was only 25% there. Even worse, there was no extra toilet paper on the shelves of the bathroom, so I had to go back down to the front desk to ask for more because what was there was bound to run out soon.||The bed was fine, although the pillows were thick but SO SOFT that they provided no support whatsoever, and the pillow cases looked a bit yellowish. Everything in the bathroom worked fine. However, one of the two bath towels had a HORRIBLE SMELL, both sweet and as though it had been used to mop up a spilled cup of coffee (I can still experience that horrible smell in my mind). It also, upon closer look, seemed to feature a blood stain and some other stain that the laundry had failed to remove. It was completely gross, enough said!||On the plus side, the buffet breakfast was very good, with an omelette station and very pleasant staff. The Hilton Honors Gold benefit covered the cost of the meal. And the parking garage just down the block allowed for unlimited in-and-out after the hotel's front desk validated the parking ticket. Finally, the front desk happily accommodated my request for a 1 p.m. checkout, which is not guaranteed at Hilton properties.||I realize that times are tough, that this hotel is rather inexpensively priced, and that Scranton is not some fancy destination. Nevertheless, this hotel room disappointed me in numerous respects, all of which would seem to have been easily avoidable -- make sure the bathroom is stocked with toilet paper, that the towels are clean and not smelly from being still dirty, etc. There are plenty of perfectly fine hotels nearby, such as the Fairfield Inn and SpringHill Suites (both Marriott properties) nearby at Montage Mountain, and next time I will be back staying at one of those.

I stayed at the Hilton Scranton & Conference Center during a business trip and overall, it met my expectations. The hotel has a great central location, making transportation very convenient. The staff were friendly and helpful, and I was satisfied with the level of service. The rooms were clean, but they could benefit from a bit of modern renovation. Overall, it was a comfortable stay. I would recommend this hotel for business travelers.

I upgraded to a more expensive suite expecting a better experience, but unfortunately, it was quite the opposite. The room was outdated, with a small, aging shower and a worn-out tub. The TV was old, and the air conditioning didn’t work at all.

I reached out after receiving a message about my stay to mention the condition of the room, but never received a response. When they followed up again, I brought up the same concerns—and was ignored once more. On top of that, I was charged for a meal I never ordered and am still waiting to hear back about that issue.

The bathroom fan appeared broken, with rust or some kind of residue dripping from it, and the overall cleanliness of the room was disappointing. It looked like it hadn’t been properly cleaned in a while, with visible unpainted plaster on the ceiling.

Additionally, the painted sidewalk outside the building became dangerously slippery when wet—something that definitely needs to be addressed for guest safety. All in all, this was far from the quality I expected for the price I paid.

The pickup and drop off by the hotel's shuttle was quite prompt and reliable. Which was a great start to the experience. However the front desk staff was a cold as the weather and the room. Eventually had maintenence fixed my heat. I really enjoyed the spirit of the season decor. But my highest point was the breakfast as well as the chef and the hostess at breakfast. Their customer service was awesome! I certainly would go back for that.

The room was clean, tidy and well stocked. The room service was pleasant and they changed my linen upon request. Very spacious bathroom. No fragrance in the room. Not an amazing view from the window, but good location. Staff at the front made check in and out very simple. 5/5

Customer service: 5/5 - Rooms: 3/5 (needs updating - remove or replace carpets)

This was our 3rd stay at this hotel over the past 4 years and I had issues in years past with billing, such as extra nights charged, so I took the time for an in person checkout and receipt review this trip. Checked out the morning of Dec 1st, and the two ladies at the desk were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable - absolutely impeccable customer service skills. I wish I noted their names so I could compliment them by name. Also friendly experience at check in and with every staff interaction during our stay, but my checkout experience was especially notable in a positive way.

Only 4 stars because the hotel definitely needs some updating in the rooms, but the staff do their best in caring for it and providing clean rooms ready for an enjoyable stay.

Overall, I recommend staying here for value, location, and friendly, helpful staff.

This hotel is definitely not worth the price. First, we noticed a clear butt print on the chair. Then the mildew on the grout in the shower and clearly there had been a leak behind the toilet. Next we noticed a stain on the headboard of the one bed. Come to find out by looking at other reviews, someone complained about the same exact room 2 weeks earlier. Also, we had a room that accommodates 4 and only enough towels and washcloths for 2. Shampoo dispenser completely empty. No body wash dispenser at all. Pool needs a good cleaning. And the cherry on top of it all, a pair of fuzzy socks was found under the chair in the room, FYI, not our socks. I've stayed in cheaper motels that were much cleaner. Would not recommend.
