We were here for 2 nights for a local family celebration. We arrived very early (930am) and the clerk was nice enough to let us check in. The only room ready was on the 1st floor and she double checked that was okay since my profile says I prefer higher floors. I’m a Diamond member and was using points for my stay. The lobby smelled really musty like there had been a water leak. The room was fine, outdated not modern like their website said. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. The next 2 mornings the lobby smelled like burnt kitchen smoke from the breakfast service. The kitchen ventilation really needs to be addressed. The food was just okay, but it’s free so you get your moneys worth I guess. The ladies running the breakfast were all really nice and I saw them ask multiple people if they could get them anything. Our room was quiet and we slept fine. I was not expecting any charges since I used points. When i checked my bill on the app there were two accommodation charges for $25 plus tax each. We decided to check out early and skip the lobby breakfast for better food at the airport. I stopped at the desk on my way out to ask about the charges. I wasn’t greeted or acknowledged. He just stared at me. I told him I had a question about a $25 charge. He didn’t even ask my room number. When I said I used points he said Oh, that’s why, there is a $25 charge for using points. I told him I’ve never heard of that at any other IHG hotel where I’ve used points and wasn’t advised up front and he just shrugged his shoulders. He didn’t even offer to check me out, I had to do it myself on the app. I’m in Pittsburgh a few times a year and will never stay here again.

From the outside the hotel screams dingey. The rooms are...retro. I appreciate the room temp was very comfortable and the beds were nice enough. I did find my bathroom to look gross and decided to skip the shower because it looked suspicious. My only real complaint was I woke up with pitch black boogers I'm assuming from the very poor air quality.

On a good note the place was quite, and a convient drive to downtown. It was fine in a pinch. I sadly was forced to get a king suite because all the rooms were sold out so I can't celebrate tbe $250 price tag, but would have felt more likely to give an extra star if I had got this hotel for the $99 my co workers did.

Side note didn't love the location for food. The bar next door was booked for a private party and it was not easy to find somewhere nearby to eat. Didn't love when we asked the front desk about suggestions they just threw a list of restaurants our way as if we'd know that rando Italian place #9 would be a good place.

The morning staff was much friendlier and helpful for check out.

Patches

Everything up to date in room and clean. Able to sleep well as mattress comfortable. Shower very warm. Felt like noise was reduced here. Pool was spacious and heated. Staff helpful and hot breakfast choices were many. Would stay here again. Absolutely no smell of smoke.

Our room was the perfect size. We enjoyed how large the bed was and the room was very clean. The bathroom was amazing. The breakfast choices were good. The staff was very nice. We enjoyed that there is a bar close by. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much and would love to come back in the future. Highly recommend.

Stayed here for the the weekend for a work event, room is very outdated, beds are firm. The breakfast attendant was super sweet and helpful ( best part about my stay) Location is horrible if you don’t have a vehicle - nothing is in walking distance besides the dive bar connected to the hotel. Also woke up to several bites all over my body!

This was a good hotel. It's in an office neighborhood and so it's quiet (read: dead) during weekends. We were there for one night to visit a local college. Our room was well-sized for 4 people, clean and with comfortable beds. It had a microwave, a mini fridge and a coffee maker.||Breakfast in the morning was decent. If you need to be downtown, this hotel is in a good location as it's only 10 minutes away.||Although the hotel is nothing special, it is a good hotel and a good option if you need to stay in Pittsburgh, and it has the quality we expect from a Holiday Inn Express hotel. We would stay here again if we needed to be in Pittsburgh.

I spent $112 total per night on a weekend for myself and my daughter. At that price point it checked off the main boxes: clean room, free parking, free hot breakfast, pool.

If that's your budget and only criteria, go for it. BUT if you're expecting at 4.3 Star experience, you might be disappointed.

Exterior:
The place has a generally 'sketchy vibe'. The building is visibly worn down, some garbage was strewn across the front door, there is a dive bar connected to it, and the county jail is in the same development.

Staff:
Staff team were not "warm and welcoming", just matter of fact. Never looked up from their desks. Seemed like they were slightly annoyed to be disturbed to check guests in or answer questions.

Rooms:
Dark & tired looking. Small windows that let in little sunlight. Very little lighting in the room, only 3 small laps. Dated decor. Stiff, creaky mattresses.

Pool:
Seemed like the filter was not working. Clumps of human hair and other small debris in the pool. My daughter also founded a rusted toy at the bottom of the deep end.

Breakfast:
Slightly below average free hotel food. And very disorganized set up. Guests were rummaging through cupboards to find bowls & spoons for cereal, and sugar for coffee. Coffee and juice ran out. Just not a very easy and relaxing experience.

So, again, if about $100 is your budget, this place isn't bad. But if you're expecting a 4.3 star experience and have the money, there are lots of other options in the area for about $150 that will meet those expectations MUCH better

The whole hotel was extremely welcoming, comfortable and clean! Including the bath! Great customer service, friendly people, great staff. The only downside for me was that breakfast although it was supposed to go till 930 food seemed to be stopped and not restocked after 9:00 so, if you got there after nine, you had slim pickings to none with the hot food, which was a disappointment. We did make it on the first day and had a good breakfast!
Other than that, it was an excellent stay and the stay off at the front desk and the food area were very personable and friendly!
