The visitor center is so informative, and the staff are very helpful. We enjoyed walking the trails and seeing the beach. Unfortunately, we weren't able to see the carnivorous plants because there wasn't a ranger available due to funding cuts. But we really enjoyed our trip to Indiana Dunes National Park!

One of the newest National Parks. Visitor Center had some of most informed rangers. The film is longer and you learn why the park status is important (think wetlands, Great Lake and birds for starters.) Don't miss the hike with many steps...great hike leading to view of Chicago, through dunes and down to sand beach. Junior Ranger badge for adults and kids great fun and learning experience. Totally worth the time for a visit.

We stayed here at Indiana Dunes National Park Visitor Center for an overnight and this visitor center and parking was super clean and tidy. This site was a patrolled area as we saw security police car in the parking lot itself, thus very safe. Garden and picnic area was also professionally well maintained. It’s a beautiful picnic spot. If you are on long journey you can definitely consider this place for overnight parking and sleepover on your camper vehicle. There is no spot for a tent camping. There is no shower or no flush toilet, just one pit toilet but there was no bad odour at all and it was very clean as well. There is a pretty good sunset view as well from the parking lot. You can also walk around it’s very beautiful. August 2024.

Small visitor center- and the gift shop doesn’t have a lot of choices. However the staff is great and they do have all the information you would need for your trip to the Dunes!

A smaller visitor center. The people working there were very friendly and helpful in ideas and suggestions to enjoy the park. They also have a small gift shop and the restrooms are clean. You can watch a short film on the park. You can get your NPS passport book stamped here as well.
