My experience here is similarĀ to theĀ few negative reviews I see posted. My 5 year old is in the Learn to Skate Step 1 program and it is a total waste of timeĀ and money for us and for 90% of the kidsĀ in her group.

1. The class is supposed to be 20 minutes long but they bring them in late and shove them out early. You effectively get just 15 minutes on ice.

2. We haveĀ been to 3 classes so far and itĀ is as goodĀ as going to none. First class, nothing happened. The kids were just standing and the teachers were skating aroundĀ and throwing toys for them to pick up but most kids were just frozen on the spot and the teachers didn't even try to engage them. I thoughtĀ it was because it was the first class and it will definitely get better next time. The second class, again, the same thing happened. For a moment I was excited because finally a teacherĀ went up to my daughter, but the teacher spent exactly 30 seconds with her. TheĀ third class, again the teachers just throw toys around and tell the kids to walk and just don't help the kids. You can take your kids to a public skating rink for free and give them better exposure.

My daughter was in tears today saying she doesn't want to go here anymore because nobody teaches her anything. I asked a couple other parents and their experience is similar.

Regarding our expectations - we have goneĀ to many group classes - tennis, swimming, dance, gymnastics. All these classes are very structured and the instructor has things for them to do the entire 30 min. Even if some kids are waiting around for their turn, it's fine, because the instructor has a plan and devotes a certain amount of time to each kid, and has enough drills to fill the entire 30-45 minutes. In this place it seems like the instructors don't give a damn, and are just waiting for the class to end. It's not like my daughter is reluctant to learn. She badly wants to learn and is very upset that nobody is teaching her in the class.

Before you enroll your kids here I recommend you go and view one class. You will see how the instructors are in their own world, skating around, chatting, trying to skate around the toys thrown around (for fun) while the kids are just on their own. Occasionally an instructor will tell them to march on ice and show them how to get up if they fall. If you believe this is how kids learn, then you can just take them to a public rink because these instructors are doing nothing anyway. If you are looking for a structured group class with drills and where the instructors care about teaching, then this is not the place for your kid.

For a new rink, it doesn't really feel like it. The location is very convenient and there's a lot of parking. The facility is fairly well laid out.

The locker rooms are on the small side and the benches are oddly arranged because they give almost no leg room.

The men's bathroom is not well maintained either but I think, overall, it's a nice rink.

Quite a few competitive skaters train here. Overall or it's a positive, safe environment. Great coaches. The cafe has good food. The Pro shop is well stocked. Upstairs Play Strong rents space and is good for cross training. In general, the facility functions but it could use updating and a deep clean.

The learn to skate program is wonderful. The environment is clean, lessons are well organized, coaches are great, especially Juliette Zielinski, she makes sure my kids go to the right level of classes. Both of my girls love to go there.

I decided to come back to skating after a bit of a break, so I signed up for the Adult Skating Academy (originally started skating at the ISCC at 3 years old). I have been able to gain back skills that I forgot I had and learn new skills, as well. The director, Juliette, is wonderful, and she saw that I could move up in levels, and found a perfect fit group for my skill level!
