I love this place, and we will definitely come back! It exceeded my expectations. You have to see it in person, because the photos don't do it justice. It's rustic chic! The rooms are sizable, the solid 1930s construction is still amazing, and the place is well kept. There's a lot of things to do on the property. We had a wonderful meal at the restaurant. All the staff were attentive. And of course you're out in beautiful stargazing country, and there are other things to do in the area. We will come back just to stay at this place!

My wife and I visited the property for the first time this past week. From the stunning lobby and lounge area, to the beautiful and spacious guest rooms (with a really comfortable bed), to the crystal clean pools, to the Fox Den Bar cocktails and food, this place hit all the right spots.

We checked in on a Sunday night and had dinner in the Bistro. The dinner menu was a tad limited, but we visited out of season, so I wasn't surprised at that. The wine list, though? Wow! The food was great and the menu offered a little something for everyone. I even had a glass of Sauternes (iykyk) as a nightcap.

The room we stayed in was a garden view room; much larger than your average hotel room and included a nice little patio out back. The patio wass perfect for morning coffee and evening wine and stargazing.

The property was QUIET! It's hard to find any properties where there's not road noise, or music from the bar, or kids running amok. There were other people at the property, but I never heard them.

The property itself was clean. I didn't find a single piece of errant trash, and all the grounds looked as though they had a crew of landscapers come through hourly to maintain its tidiness.

There are 5 pools on the property, though we only used the pool next to the main lobby/restaurant/bar. The pool was crystal clear and there were plenty of seating options all around from lounges to cushioned chairs. We were able to order cocktails and food from the bar to take and enjoy poolside.

We ate at the bar a couple times and had their burger, chips & guacamole, and buffalo wings. All of it was dleicious. My wife and I split the burger because it's big enough to do that. I can say, without reservation, it's one of the best burgers I've had. It was cooked to perfection over actual fire (the way God intended) and not on a flat top. And the fries were legit. Cocktails there aren't cheap, but I was never disappointed in the quality/quantity of the pour or the taste of the cocktail. Their liquor selection is good.

We availed ourselves of the stargazing theater every night we were there. There's something incredibly relaxing about sitting in the desert and staring up at the night sky and La Casa Del Zorro gets that right. Plenty of chairs in a fenced off area to keep the "light noise" out made for the perfect stargazing experience for us.

We checked out yesterday and drove home. Once I got home I realized I'd left my watch (a very, VERY nice watch that holds substantial monetary and sentimental value to me) in my room. I called the front office and, in a panic, asked if they could check our room for it. They called back less than 5 minutes later almost out of breath (I think they actually ran to the room and back) to tell me they had the watch and to ask if I'd like them to ship it to me. With a watch like that, it's not something one puts in the mail, so I told them I'd be driving back out to pick it up. Fortunately, we only live 1.5 hours away. I pulled up, walked in, was greeted by the front desk staff with a huge smile and my watch, and told, "Hope to see you and your lovely wife again soon."

When my wife and I booked our trip out here, we were looking for a less expensive alternative to our usual Anniversary trip to our regular place in Palm Springs (rhymes with Schmingleside Inn). My wife is "between jobs" and, well, I'm "frugal." So, she stumbled onto this place. I've got to say, I'm so happy she did. This was our first trip out here, but I can promise it won't be our last.

We stayed here for two nights in Room 272 (all one bedroom casitas were booked) and the room was very nice, spacious and beautifully furnished with lovely antique furniture, a small corner loveseat that seats three, a leather ottoman, nice artwork, an elegant & roomy bathroom with luxury towels and pool towels, as well. Although the TV was not working or the heater (temperatures dropped on our second night due to wind storm) we called the front desk and they sent Chayce, who was very helpful, courteous and friendly and swapped out the TV and made some adjustments to the electrical panel to assure we were getting heat (something not often called for in Borrego!). ||I will say I was a bit taken aback at the poor condition of the pool area, though, next to yoga studio (reason for 4 stars vs. 5). In the past this area was kept in tip top shape. The cushions were dirty and the straps were torn, the curtains on the cabana were torn and ripped, the tile in the smaller pool was badly corroded. Maybe it’s the end of the season and the resort does not want to spend the money to fix it at this time or maybe the pool is being managed under separate contract? ||By the way, the smaller pool was quite warm (heated) while the larger lap pool was not. The front desk said neither pool was heated. Both were still comfortable to enter in late spring. ||We had breakfast at the Fox Bistro and everything was perfect (good food and service). We liked the addition of the little internet cafe (Casa Cafe & Market), too.||I thought it was a nice bonus to offer free yoga classes (although we didn’t take) and I liked the self check out feature, as well. There’s no doubt this is the nicest & classiest place to stay in Borrego. The resort is so beautiful with an abundant of amenities. We have been coming here for a decade - often for special family occasions- and look forward to our next stay!

I would rate the experience 5 of 5 but my phone app didn’t give me the option. This resort is a gem. Great location for star gazing, which is the reason we came. The star gazing grounds are wonderful and have ample seating. There are several pools to enjoy. The rooms are large and very comfortable. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was delicious. Mathew was our server and he was attentive, personable and professional. Great guy. We will be coming back very soon to enjoy another quick, and amazing get away.

We have been going to La Casa since 1993. It is a lovely resort in a wonderful location. Staff were excellent and went out of their way to accommodate us quickly. We had a deluxe poolside room (downstairs!) and it was a lot of fun. The night sky can be a wonder. Has La Casa del Zorro seen better days? Yes. Does it matter? No.

We loved the one of a kind resort and will come back again! This was our first visit. We were greeted at the front desk, restaurant, cafe, and even workers on the grounds with friendliness, kindness, and well organized information. The room was beautifully clean, spacious, with a very comfy bed & lovely linens, quality bath amenities, and tasteful decor. The pools were spotless and beautifully maintained. We really enjoyed using the one steps outside our room. Our little patio by the pool and by the stream were sweet!
We were really touched with an offer of a free appetizer for our 45th Anniversary and truly surprised with a tasty dessert that said "Happy Anniversary." This was over the top service with a smile. Very thoughtful!
Top notch hotel/resort experience!

Mid. Box spring was broken and the bed basically collapsed in the middle of the night—I am a small person so no way did I do this myself. I texted and they were like “sorry”. I rented a casita with a private hot tub but there is a huge bright light that comes on automatically at like 7 pm that they would not turn off, which I had wanted to see the stars so that was a waste. The staff are not nice unless you are checking in or not in need of something. I do not recommend. I feel like I wasted my money.

A spontaneous trip to Borrego Springs from San Diego turned my guy and I to this AMAZING gem. Such a great experience. Laura at the front desk made our evening even more fantastic. |Our room was literally what dreams are made of and wish we could’ve stayed another night! |What really made our stay was the Stargazing Theater and private access to the pool and spa. |Cannot wait to visit again and will recommend to all I know!
