Had to have my mother removed by ambulance she was deteriorating . She was fine when she went in. Cardiac rehab patient admitted for 2 week stay for cardiac rehab program. Talking walking eating on admission. Delirious, bedridden , not eating or drinking by day 5. Severe dehydration . No physical therapy given. Complained of severe low back and abdominal pain and was repeatedly given tums!!! She had urine retention and pnumonia . Took over a week in hospital to recover from the neglect . My daily concerns about her deteriation were ignored . It wasn't till I put a magic marker dot on her depends one morning and saw it was still there that late evening that I realized it was never changed and it was dry. Dehydration . 😠 😔 my mother wasn't wearing diapers when she arrived . They couldn't be bothered to assist her to the bathroom. They threw diapers on her.

My wife is a resident at the memory care unit at Lutheran Home in Southbury, CT. I can not say enough about the staff. From the administrators to the lovely people who keep the facility clean and running. I've been by my wife's side for several days and I can see first hand how well tuned that staff operates. But it's not just about the resident, it's about the total family. Myself and my family who have stopped by to visit, were treated with kindness and professionalism.
Ten years prior, my mother was a resident at the Lutheran Home. I never forgot the wonderful treatment she received. May God bless this team.

This is my second stay here the other one about 10 months ago. I suffered from a severe infection. I Lost a great deal of weight, mostly muscle. I live in Danbury about 20 minutes away when there’s no traffic for like 35 to 40. So I would really rather beplaced in Danbury. Unfortunately the only well rated one there is Hancock hall. No room. Hi Time, the lines of the way in tween when I press call Bell until someone comes in my room about five minutes or less. I go to Danbury Hospital wound care every two weeks, and they are very happy with the care of my wound.
For food is above average sometimes very tasty. Plus, the staff Is very attentive. we do not live in a perfect world, so there are some glitches but I am very satisfied with the care and surroundings

Although my mom was only there a short time after being transferred from another facility the care was good. She wanted to be here from the beginning but unfortunately they did not have an open bed. The time she did have there was a pleasant one. Staff was very caring to here needs which makes leaving them so much better.

If I could have, I would have given zero stars…..

My mother was at the Lutheran home for just about a month the amount of disorganization, lack of decency, and respect that the nurses and CNA’s provide is astonishing.

I was on the phone with my mother just the other day before she was released and I heard a nurse tell her that she’d have to wait 30 minutes before she could take her to the bathroom, naturally I was upset because that’s uncalled for and not to mention inhumane, so I called the facility and was placed on hold for just about 15 minutes to speak with a supervisor…

We won’t even go into the fiasco that was created when the facility set up transportation for my mother to be picked up by a medical van and transported home. My mother didn’t have a wheelchair accessible to her. You would think it was a crime for us to ask to borrow the wheelchair and bring it right back. It was as if we were tackled by three nurses when we asked to borrow a chair it would’ve been returned within an hour. We were actually yelled at for asking. Let’s also add the fact that when I asked for a copy of her medical records, the nurse slammed the door in my face, but that was right after she rolled her eyes at me heaven, for bid, I ask for something that I’m entitled to, and make her work for something.

I will say that my mother is in worse shape than she was before. She entered the doors of the Lutheran Home, her health has declined, and the minute family becomes involved and asks any questions that may put a ripple in the way that the nurses do things that’s when they start to treat your family member with disrespect. We had an issue with how they were administering medicationā€˜s, and when we found out that there was a legitimate mistake in the dosage of a medication that controls blood pressure, of course the nurse got defensive, and would not give us a copy of the medication list that was only one of the very many issues that we encountered in less than a month.

All I will say is if you have a loved one that needs to be in a skilled facility don’t put them here you will not be at all appeased with the care that they will receive.

I highly recommend the Lutheran Home! I am a medical social worker with extensive experience working in rehabilitation facilities, hospitals and home care. My family member was a recent resident of The Lutheran Home STR. She had an acute ICU hospitalization and was too weak to return home. She chose The Lutheran Home STR in hopes of regaining her strength and endurance. She succeeded due to the Amazing staff and Team Approach at The Lutheran Home.
She was admitted the evening before Thanksgiving. We thought the facility would be short staffed due to the holiday yet we were incorrect. She received ongoing care and support by staff. CNAs, RN’s, dietary, housekeeping, rehab all had very caring and pleasant mannerisms and excellent bed side manners. Administration staff including laundry director even visited her with a thorough introduction.
Words cannot describe how pleased we are with the Lutheran Home. She graduated from rehab and is home doing very well.
I Highly Recommend the Lutheran Home for short and long term care needs!!!

My mother went there and was treated with the best hospitality I have ever seen! She felt like she gained a new family coming here. I would highly recommend this facility if you want a loved one to be not only cared for, but treated with the upmost respect.
