I took the 3 PM bus to Scranton from NYC on 2/27. I was going out there for my cousin's funeral the following day so of course I was upset and distracted and I'm not good with buses - I get a bit woozy even with Dramamine. My brother met me at the station in his car and while I was buying my return ticket I suddenly realized that I forgot to retrieve my duffel bag with my clothes from the luggage compartment. The customer service rep told us that we could catch the bus down the road in Wilkes Barre and he would call ahead and tell the driver to wait for us for a few minutes if need be, we were on our way. We thought it was a long shot that we would catch up with the bus but when we got to Wilkes Barre the nice lady bus driver was waiting for us with my duffel and a big smile. I'd like to thank both of them for their exceptional level of service and their kindness.

Little hard to figure out where the park, But once I found the parking lot, it was right across the road. The guy that announces the bus arrivals is right outside and always ready to point you to where you have to go.

Very displeased about this bus company it has more concern about saving money than people's safety and I'll give you the example why I say this.

On March 1st of 2025 I was waiting for a bus at approximately 4:30 in the morning with no security and the bus terminal closed what's means I was out waiting for the bus by myself. I was approached by an individual who wanted to attack me fortunately I was smart enough to defend it off and called the Scranton Police Department which they came promptly. When I called the bus company the following Wednesday I got nothing but the reason why the terminal is closed is we're trying to save money no apology no sympathy whatsoever about my safety to me that's totally uncalled for and unprofessional and when I requested to talk to the head people they refused to put me through so to me this bus company is totally unsafe.

Martz has the monopoly for bus rides to New York, and they are taking advantage and rip-off locals who need a ride to New York. Almost $75 for a one way to New York? 120 miles only. Thats $2800 for a bus full one way, X 10 (5 roundtrips), thats $28000 per day. How they justify this enormous increase? Diesel for a bus for 120 miles is around $60. That means that someone is getting very rich taking advantage of the local people.

Martz price gouges because they’re one of the only ways to get to NYC. $65 for a one way bus ride? They allow FlixBus to purchase seats and resell them at a higher rate, which is a really slimy move on both companies when routes have already been reduced since the pandemic. Also don’t believe the lies that a train to scranton will bring in shady people from NY and NJ (read: drug mules)—this company is already bringing them in. I hope this company fails.

Never had to deal with ticket agents inside so no complaints there. Used Martz twice, both times clean & on time.

10/10/2024 I rode bus 1802 at 1pm from Scranton to NYC with bus operator R. Martinez (older Hispanic male with glasses). Drives with Giants logo on dashboard. He was very rude about phone policy. I was only sending a voice note to someone (not loud at all, confirmed by 2 passengers) and he yelled “no phones on the bus”. But yet there is a sticker about phone policy and nowhere does it state that. There is a better way to approach people and not make up your own policy and try to enforce it. I am a grown woman not a child.

The ticket guy at the counter in Scranton was super friendly. Answered all of our questions, was smiling, seemed to be in a geuinely really good mood. The bus was right on time picking us up and 4 minutes early getting us to our destination. We left NYC at 11:00pm so arrived back in Scranton after 1:00am, although the terminal was closed the area was very well lit up and we were all comfortable.

It's a very cool Bus Terminal. But it takes 25 minutes to wait for the next bus.
