Natchaug used to be pretty solid, but they are now an absolute disgrace. They release patients in psychosis early, they allow patients not in their right minds to trade away merchandise that others brought dor them like sweatshirts, sneakers, clothes, etc. They repeatedly lose or throw away patient belongings and they provide terrible service. It is like one actual doctor to a hundred patients...absolute bs!

I was a little nervous about going to a psych hospital that was an hour and a half from where I lived, but I have nothing to say but good things about this facility. The shrink wasn't the best, but the nurses and support staff were amazing. I spent a little over 2 weeks there, and it really helped. Not my preferred psych facility, but they really helped. So, if yr having trouble dealing with mental health, and in need of help, this place won't do you wrong. And the food was very good. Once they realized I was a vegetarian, I got great food. This place helps you put things into perspective. After my stay, I know I won't need to go anywhere else. They made me understand that I'm ok. And that's a feeling I haven't had in a while.

I loved the stay. It did get boring without paul/school. The staff there are helpful. My favorite staff is Nick, there's more but I forgot their names. I did have one issue every time this girl threw a tantrum they would make us go somewhere else. She was moved to our unit, and it bothered everyone every time she threw stuff, etc. We were also scared of her

Disgrace to humanities!! No heat and cold as heck. Gave me med I had tekanasia and shook from that and freezing Temps the whole time. Bad place.

If I could submit “0” stars, I would, but I had to check off at least “1” to write this review. The professionals that hold degrees and are in charge of medication management and counseling, are quick to push adolescents out with false diagnoses possibly because of insurance purposes that generally only pay for 14-day stays. Over the course of 2 separate hospitalizations, I informed the professionals in charge of my family member’s care that it was too soon for them to be released and there were serious concerns of greater mental health issues. Sadly, I was correct and at the expense of my family member. I know without a doubt that my family member could have been sparred from a third hospitalization (definitely not Natchaug), increased emotional and psychological disturbances, and court appearances if the “professionals” who oversee the adolescent unit had diagnosed them correctly. Natchaug’s adolescent psychiatrists, psychologists, therapist and clinicians should be utterly ashamed themselves how they have chosen to make a living because it is clear in my opinion that they are not in their positions because they genuinely want to help the adolescents.

Was here in October. I was admitted here and the staff was really good. I would like to thank Dr. Sheema and all the hospital staff as they helped me feel better. The food is like school cafeteria food which is the only bad thing.

DO NOT GO! The female doctor (can’t name drop) is a despicable woman. I admitted myself due to suicide ideation. The female doctor was trying to force me to take medications. Rather than discussing the side effects with me, she printed out a sheet with the side effects on them and sent me on my way. I saw on the list of side effects that the medication has an increased risk of suicide, especially for those who have had suicidal ideation in the past. As if it wasn't clear before, it was painfully obvious now; the doctor did not care about me, my freedom or my safety.

Further more, when I attempted to sign myself out that night, she would not let me go for another 5 (72 hours plus weekend) days despite my doctor at the department of veteran affairs telling her I was safe to go home!!

In that initial meeting, I told the female doctor numerous times I did not want to start new medication; she did not care and still stated I would be in the hospital passed thanksgiving (another 10 days after my admission date) if I did not start new medication (self admitted). It was not until I told her to her face the following day in front of a nurse and therapist that she committed medicine malpractice by threatening my freedom and safety that she admitted she was wrong.

The day I left she didn’t even have the decency to look me in the eye and offer me explanation of why she kept me over the weekend when there were no groups.

The staff there has no respect for her and know of her despicable actions. If you can, go else where!
