I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the Newport travel trolley rides, and I can't recommend it enough! Our guide and driver, Trolley Rob, was absolutely fantastic. His knowledge of the area's stunning mansions was impressive, and he shared fascinating stories that truly brought the history to life.

Not only did he provide insightful commentary, but he also offered great dining suggestions that were spot on and didn’t disappoint. One of the most valuable tips he shared was about riding the hop-on-hop-off trolley and obtaining a voucher, which saved me $35 in parking! With this voucher, parking was only $5 for the entire day, making the experience even more enjoyable.

I had an amazing time on the trolley tour and exploring the Breakers! In total the experience was about 3 hours with a very reasonable price of $46. Trolley Rob kept was extremely informative while remaining entertaining and intriguing. There are so many cool facts and details about the cliff walks that I never would have known without taking this tour. My one cation is to arrive extra early to ensure you will be able to locate a parking spot.

This is the 4th time that I have been a local tourist going on the Newport trolley tour with a mansion stop. I go to a different mansion each time. Today, it was the Breakers, finally. The grandest summer cottage of them all. Total tour time: 3 hours.
As a viewer of the TV series "Gilded Age", this recent mansion tour is extra fascinating. I enjoy marveling at such ostentatious display of wealth while judging the unbelievably wealthy at the same time (ha!).
On the tour itself, I really recommend getting on these for yourself if you are local and also including it in your itinerary for out-of-town guests. It is amazing how much information the tour driver has in their head, sharing trivia as much and as fast as they can, while navigating the narrow and busy streets of Newport. The drive departs on time and keeps to the schedule. Worth it.
The trolley has comfortable seats and are well maintained. Clean.
Also, this trip I had to reschedule unavoidably and the people who run this tour are very accommodating. That helps a lot. I can tell they are not just out to make quick money but they truly would like you to experience it.
Why do I take it more than once? Don't I get tired of the same trivia? Well, see, that's the beauty of this tour. Every time, I learn something different and new and each tour guide/driver delivers differently--but always with such engaging humor.
What are you waiting for? This is your sign. Go and book that tour sooner than later.

Highly recommend, and if you can book Carlos, you won't be disappointed!! I'm not a huge history buff and still very much enjoyed the tour. There's so much socialite history to learn, and it's cool to hear about such high profile people that live/stay right where you are staying. Great tour, great time, group guide!

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Trolleyman Troy! He had a lot of information on the area. Neat little anecdotes and did an excellent job of connecting the dots regarding families and history. Introduced us to our favorite spot on the island Brenton State Park. Do the tour early to get "a lay of the land" overview and then go enjoy Newport!

This tour was well worth the money. I'd do it again if we are lucky enough to visit Newport again. Besides the Breakers, the knowledge of our driver was tremendous. Some of my pics are of the Newport Country Club, the Eisenhower house, the farm in which Jackie Kennedy (I don't know her maiden name) grew up. He was constantly telling us the history and stories too. He is from Newport, so I'm sure that really helps. Great job!
