We had a wonderful 5 days in the Loire Valley with Christy of France Off the Beaten Path Tours and her team member, Christine. We stayed at the Hotel Le Pavillion des Lys in the beautiful and charming town of Amboise. The hotel was lovely as were the people that ran it and the breakfast was amazing!

Having Amboise as our "home base" was perfect! We could unpack and relax and then each day we would gather in the lobby and then go to a different Chateau or Castle. While touring these beautiful residences we also learned about the Royal families that had these Chateaux built and the elaborate and animated lives they lived. Christy is quite the story teller!

In addition to touring the Chateaux and Castles we also had the pleasure of meeting wonderful chefs and winemakers that Christy has gotten to know over the years. Such a special experience spending time with each of them doing a cooking class, cheese tasting, or learning about and tasting wonderful wines. We ended those wonderful experiences with by either having dinner in one of their restaurants or lunch or dinner with them in their homes - Such a Treat!!

We would have never had these experiences that were so beautiful and intimate if we hadn't found Christy's tour.
It was a wonderful 5 days full of so much beauty, laughter, friendship, learning, amazing food and wine. (Also, Christy also builds in time so you can do your own wondering). Thank you Christy and Christine!!

This was one of the best travel experiences we have had! Christy, Philippe and Summer are very knowledgeable about the area and have crafted an excellent tour of Provence with meticulous attention to detail. The hotel location was perfect and we had the best rooms (facing the courtyard). The schedule was not tight and we had just the right amount of time to explore a village before moving on to the next. The size of the group made it feel more like friends vacationing together with local hosts driving us around and sharing their favorite places to visit. We are hoping to take another one of their tours the next time we visit France.

Tip: For an even more enjoyable experience next time, we plan to disembark in Paris and catch the train the next day. Connecting through CDG airport to a regional airport was not a pleasant experience.

This was a vacation of a lifetime. Christy and her staff did not miss a detail to make this one of the most interesting, elegant , and fun experiences!!!! From the Boutique Hotel she chose to have a stay, to the most fabulous meals we enjoyed with her friends in breathtaking venues, the history of so many villages, museums and art work of renowned artists, trips through open markets ( aka great shopping) and meeting people that by the end of the week we were all family. These are just a few of the reasons why we will be planning another trip with Christy! Thank you with all my heart❤️

This tour of Provence was a lifetime experience for our family. There were eight of us, sisters, daughters, and nieces. We experienced the south of France through all five senses. St. Remy was a perfect base camp. Our daily activities were organized but flexible. We enjoyed delicious food and wine in all kinds of beautiful settings. Christy, Phillipe and Summer are not only knowledgeable but fun! We highly recommend this tour!

My siblings and I went on OTBP's six day tour of Provence in early September, and it was wonderful. Our two guides, Summer and Phillipe, were perfect, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful, as was our driver, Phillipe No. 2. The hotel, food and wine were exquisite. Highly recommended.

Our trip to the Loire Valley with Christy was wonderful from beginning to end.

We were picked up at the Amboise train station by Christy and Christine (our excellent driver). Settled in and a short rest at the delightful Le Pavillon de Lys. Then shuttled to a late afternoon ride on a historic Tout boat on the Loire River. So relaxing after the hustle and bustle of Paris - gliding past Chateaux, with Christy starting her fascinating history of the area!

An incredible breakfast in Le Pavillon de Lys sitting areas every morning. Then shuttled each day to awesome Château. Christy arranged everything, making it so easy, with plenty of time to explore each Châteaux and their gorgeous grounds. Plus, from Christy, a wealth of interesting and spicy commentary on the history and lives of the French Royalty at the Chateaux.

The food and wine were delicious, including a meal at the home of Master Chefs Angelique and Christoph, where we had an opportunity to be Sous Chefs! And also, dinner at Le Medicis restaurant with a tour of Chef Damien’s kitchen. He gave us a chocolate tasting and a cheese tasting where he placed each cheese on a map of France. The dessert of the most delicate chocolate lava cake with a side of butternut ice cream on a crumb crust was melt in your mouth magnifique!

A highlight of the trip was a tour of the historic Château de Montdomaine vineyard and winery with a wonderful French country lunch at the Chateau Montdomaine home of Luisa and Fred.

The tour was so well organized, comfortable, and interesting!

Philippe & Summer were excellent, complementary guides on a beautiful, scenic tour of Provence: lavender fields, vineyards, market days, and amazing food & wine! Christy cultivated wonderful relationships across the region: from top chefs to vintners, shopkeepers, etc. This trip had been my dream for decades, and my husband and I completely enjoyed reconnecting in such a lovely location and with such an amiable group of fellow travelers!

Fabulous trip! It was like a high school field trip to the coolest place ever with all your besties! Had a blast with 6 of the funniest females in France. These ladies were so kind and easy to spend time with. I enjoyed listening to their stories and learning about their families. Very classy ladies!

Christy did an outstanding job of coordinating the entire event! Her knowledge and story telling enhanced the whole experience. I would do it again!
