This is one of the premier ranches to be able to ride horses. You go out on a horse to the Oso Trail next to the Ventura River. It's a wonderful experience altogether, perfect for kids.

Our riding guid Donna was fabulous and was amazing with the kids. She got them familiarized with the animals, taught them so much about riding, and we had fun conversations throughout the trail ride.

The kids were able to check out various horses and animals at the ranch, which was also fun. If you're in Ojai, and especially with kids, absolutely recommend this ranch.

It took everything in me to not act like I was in Red Dead Redemption. I wanted to lean down while softly petting the horse and say "Wooaah eaassyy there Nelly. Don't be scared. If we must die, we'll die. But sometimes death is the only way to remain free..."

This was actually my first time riding a horse. Horses are so beast. Like that thing could have killed me anytime he wanted to. When we were checking in for our ride, a cowgirl in a long sleeve camo shirt, navy blue jeans, and some cowboy boots with spurs came out and said "Hey y'all!" in a thick Western accent. I look over and the rest of the staff are also full cowgirls. I had to double check I wasn't in the Even Cowgirls Get the Blues novel. Great read.

Her name was Sissy and she was our trail guide for the day. She passionately explained how old each horse was and a bit of their backgrounds. My horse's name was Graham and he was a straight thug. He used to carry solar panels up the mountains. Straight workhorse. She had to put him near the back because he wanted to LAP all the other horses.

After a 30 minute ride, we were able to walk around the grounds, and see all the other animals on the ranch. Mules, Donkeys, Cows, Horses, Alpacas, Sheep, etc. It was pretty rad.

I got a good boot rec from Sissy (Double H Boots), as I'm in the market for some quality boots. Not cowboy boots though I'd be a phony.

It was inspirational to see how people still live so differently. Sissy has been riding since she was in diapers and teaches lessons at the ranch full time. I often wonder if this simple of a life leads to greater happiness than climbing the corporate ladder. Comparison is a thief of joy though.

If I were a screenwriter, the Ojai Valley Trail Riding Company would provide me with plenty of inspiration for a hit film.

If I could give this place 10 stars , I would. The people here are extremely kind and every animal was well kept. Absolutely astounding, and would love to come back.

My grandfather just turned 87 a week prior to our visit, and he is losing his vision. I was taking him here as a birthday present , he loves horses and was a cattle rancher in his youth. I wanted to make sure he got to see some amazing animals before he couldn’t any longer. We ended up meeting a woman named Sandy and my grandfather got to ride her horse named Mellow! Needless to say, this was one of the best birthdays he’s had in a long time, he will absolutely not stop raving about it. Everybody at this ranch is so lovely. It warmed my heart to see such kindness, I’m tearing up just writing this. I’m not one to write reviews , but if you want to visit a ranch this is the place to go. The people are awesome, seriously.

We visited the OVTRC for our mini honeymoon weekend in Ojai and had the pleasure of riding with Donna in the early morning. I've been wanting to go horseback riding for ages and this was the perfect way to do it! We booked through the concierge at the Ojai Valley Inn for an 8 am ride, which in the summer heat was perfect timing as any later than that would have been way too hot. The views are spectacular, the horses are gentle, and Donna is a wonderfully friendly and knowledgeable guide. Take some time after your ride to feed the cows and say hi to all the other wonderful animals on the ranch! Such a fun experience.

Friendly and polite trail guides and staff. The horses were beautiful and tame, perfect for beginners. The trail shows off Ojai’s beautiful scenery. I felt very welcome. My horse was calm and responsive, however, he did steal a few snacks along the trail.

Beginners are welcome here! They can give you an old, slow horse that is happy to just take a walk. The scenery you ride through is beautiful, especially in the spring. It's like being out in nature, far from civilization, even though its just 10 minutes from downtown Ojai! The guides are friendly and helpful. A great birthday activity!

I took my toddler there for a pony ride last weekend and he loved it. The pony ride goes through the ranch, visiting the many animals they have there. It was about a 20 min ride for $60. We enjoyed it and will be back soon

This places was amazing. They had a friendly stuff and Susan was very genuine and helpful. The tour guide was direct to the point and was very patient with the kids. Thank you very much for the great experience. I know it was a long day for all of you working since 6am in the morning until closing. Thank you again I highly recommend it to everyone.
