Trendy loud bar/restaurant. Different take on typical Chinese food staples like General Tso chicken gives it a fresh feel. Music is loud but the whole place was vibrant. Service was good. They discounted food when our food took long to come out. Use the parking garage in back and don’t pay. You can “pay” inside and get it free.

I had a decent meal at Old Thousand. The Jalapeño Popper Rangoon was a highlight, with a great flavor profile, although the filling was a little sparse. The Brisket Fried Rice was a letdown; it lacked the depth of flavor I was hoping for. However, the Kung Pao Chicken delivered on flavor, and the daily deal was a definite plus.

Great little joint. Stumbled on it almost by accident and my wife and I git to have a quick date night here. Wonderful cozy atmosphere. I ordered the house old fashioned with black tea infused bourbon which was honestly amazing! I wasn't really expecting to like it very much but wanted to try something out of the box. The food continued to deliver through the courses to an amazing fun little night. Highly recommend!

So far my favorite Chinese spot in Austin. Perfectly balanced dishes in a great atmosphere with reasonable prices and great service.

I always get the Kung Pao chicken on my first visit to a Chinese place because it’s a great staple to compare. Theirs knocks it out of the park with great veggies and sauce and perfectly cooked chicken.

We also had great service and a great cucumber salad that balanced out the heat of the meal so well. Would definitely recommend.

We finished off with the donuts, and they transported me to my childhood of eating Chinese buffet food just to get the sugary goodness of donut balls. They taste exactly like your best memory of those sweets.

In my opinion, it’s a cheaper and better spot for date night or just a dinner than Wu Chow! Check it out!

So incredibly glad I finally got to try this joint. Great, funky atmosphere, friendly service, and the most incredible Chinese food! The mala fried chicken might actually be the best fried chicken I've ever had. Same goes for the BBQ pork spareribs that were on special. If you're lucky enough to see them on the menu, don't miss your chance!

Food is delicious but the service is lacking. The chefs deserve better. Also, the food portions are small for the prices.

Old Thousand has been on my list for a bit now and I finally got around to it. It was about time I tried the place that people keep talking about. And I can see why it’s so popular! I ordered the jalapeño popper rangoons to start and got the brisket fried rice and broccoli beef. I wanted a bit more heat to the dishes so the chili oil helped. I think I liked the broccoli beef more. Great cocktails and save room for dessert. The panna cotta was pretty good but the winner was definitely the donuts! Shoutout to Kylie for her great service and recommendations. Old Thousand is excellent!
