Leaving late from home for our destination of Syracuse, we booked a room here. Room was nice, comfortable, provided one bottle of water in room. Because we arrived at 8:30 pm, no coffee or hot water in lobby. My son forgot shaving cream, they had a small convenience "store" with snacks and other things but no shaving cream. Asked at desk for complimentary item of shaving cream but they were all out. Had to pay $8 and tax for 2 bottles of water. Breakfast was good, plenty of options.

I usually stay at this hotel because it’s conveniently located just a five-minute drive from work. Like anything else, there are pros and cons to this hotel:||Top two things I like about this hotel:||Clean and Well-Maintained: The hotel is generally clean and well-maintained, and I’ve noticed an effort to improve. For example, during my last stay, I appreciated finding a toothpaste pack and disposable toothbrush readily available at the wash area — a thoughtful touch that saves you from having to ask for it. Plus, the complimentary breakfast is a nice perk.||Exceptional Staff: The staff here is very friendly and accommodating, especially Michael, who will gladly offer you his coat on a cold day — that level of service really stands out.||Top two things I dislike:||Laundry Room Access and Machine Issues: The laundry room isn’t open 24 hours and locks at 9 p.m., which can be inconvenient. Also, the machines can be finicky — sometimes they work, other times they don’t and may eat your quarters. If that happens, the front desk is helpful and will compensate you for the loss.||Limited and Worn Kitchen Supplies: The kitchen isn’t always fully stocked with cooking utensils, pots, pans, or eating utensils. It’s worth checking before settling in. Also, the available utensils and cookware are a bit dated and could use an upgrade.||Conclusion:|Would I stay here again? Absolutely. It’s a very "complete" hotel — with a kitchen, sitting area, study/office desk, and even a fireplace, it really feels like a home away from home. It’s not a St. Regis — but honestly, I don’t need a St. Regis!

The Residence Inn Scranton had some conveniences going for it—close to stores, parking, and highway access—but unfortunately, those same “perks” came with trade-offs that made our stay less than restful.

Our room was situated near the neighboring Sam’s Club, which meant noise at all hours. Between truck deliveries, late-night activity, and general traffic, a sound machine became our best friend. Without it, sleep would’ve been impossible.

What really soured the experience, though, was being woken up one night by the strong smell of weed, clearly coming from a nearby room. It was so overpowering it seeped into our space and disrupted our sleep. While the host was understanding and did refund part of our stay (which we appreciated), the lost sleep and overall discomfort made the trip feel like more of a hassle than a getaway.

If you’re a light sleeper or sensitive to noise and smells, this may not be the spot for you.

This was an absolute excellent hotel for us to stop at during our road trip. The kitchenette, the space and the bed was absolutely comfortable for us and our two dogs to rest. The kitchenette with a working dishwasher really made a difference and the bed was SO COMFORTABLE.

It was close to some shops and restaurants and frankly, we couldn't have asked for anything more. Everything was absolutely clean and the heater worked wonderfully. The potty areas for our dogs were also excellent.

The front desk staff member was never at the desk and we had to go outside to interrupt her smoke break for check in, to ask for a second bed - which was not provided despite having been booked for a family of 3 - and for check out. No one offered to make up the couch, which was their suggestion for when we asked why we were given a room for 2 despite booking for 3. The front desk agent did freely share her love of Trump, so I wonder how that's working for her now.

Pool was broken and freezing. The breakfast bar milk selection was congealed. Not the best experience.

Michael at the front desk was by far the friendliest clerk we’ve encountered in our hotel stays. The room was not very clean but the service made up for the sticky floors and dirty couch in our suite.

Rooms are decent! Friendly service but they don't come in and clean the rooms everyday! Seems like most hotels are like that any more!

Stopped for the night, this is the best hotel we have been to in a very long time. Micheal at the front desk was very friendly and extremely helpful, room was excellent, clean, even had a kitchen, the whole package was beyond expectations.
