Wonderful B&B, cozy, historic, well maintained & organized. The host were VERY pleasant & professional. The couple were gracious host, we will NEVER forget them. Well done.

This B&B is very comfortable and clean. Kathi & Ed are very friendly. The breakfast was delicious and the historic tour afterwards was very interesting! The only reason I gave a 4 out of 5 was because the internet didn’t work in our room. We will be visiting again while in Waterloo seeing family.

A bit off the beaten path...but that is what makes it a gem. Lovely owners. Learned alot about the history of the house. It has been lovingly restored. Our room was beautifully decorated, bed was comfortable. The courtyard garden was peaceful and quiet. Breakfast was amazing. Makes me want to come back again!

We were invited to an overnight getaway in beautiful Waterloo. This B&B was amazing. The historical knowledge of the hosts was outstanding, breakfast was amazing, and the rooms were cozy! My fiancé loved the period decor and the stories behind it. Thank you to our friends who invited us along and to Ed & Kathy for their hospitality! The Garden Room is beautiful.

A hidden gem in downtown Waterloo. Exquisite attention to details and genuine care to the residence and guests distinguish this B&B. Five star amenities and the personal touch will bring a smile to your stay here. We enjoyed the fantastic shower, towels, linens, room decor, scrumptious breakfast, perfect coffee, and the calming yard and garden. Thank you for a beautiful experience! 🤗

We stayed at this B&B when we came for a wedding in a nearby Illinois town. What a delightful experience! The building itself is a beautiful, fascinating, historic structure. The owners have restored it very sensitively, and it is in wonderful shape. There is a very pleasant garden out back, which is a nice place to just sit and read, or have a drink in the afternoon. The "room" we stayed in was actually a large, two-room suite (bedroom plus sitting room). It was also beautifully restored and decorated. The bathroom was huge, and had every possible amenity, including a coffee maker, microwave and small fridge. There was even a second-floor porch, which overlooks the garden and a fountain. If you must stay in touch, there is wireless internet. As I said to some friends: staying here is like visiting your grandma, if your grandma owns a beautiful old house, has excellent taste, and is a fastidious housekeeper.||||Breakfasts were also wonderful. One of the dishes (blueberry surprise) was so good that I asked for the recipe. They are served in the kitchen, and you eat with the hosts. They always had coffee waiting for us, juice, and fresh fruit, as well as the hot entree. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating, and were interesting to talk to. They can give you good advice about places to eat and things to do in the area. All in all, this is one of the best places we have ever stayed.||||My only caution would be that the room is up a flight of rather steep steps. If you have problems with steps, this might not be the best place for you.

The history, hospitality, comfort and location was better than expected. Very affordable. I couldn't recommend this place more. Will use every time I need a place in Waterloo. This BnB is in town and within walking distance to many attractions in Waterloo.

We have stayed at the SRR several times in the last few years, as we visit family in neighboring towns. We like the upstairs "suite", which is spacious, beautifully appointed, quiet -- for us, perfect. Breakfasts are excellent, with flexible timing. Kathy and Ed are friendly but respect our privacy. Off-street parking. Only downside is that the back stairs up to the suite are a bit steep, which could be problematic for some, but we're in our 60s and manage just fine. Highly recommend.
