We didn’t have reservations, but stopped because the outside looked so nice. The room was spotlessly clean and freshly painted! There was even a small table that we used for snacking and playing cards. Great price and far exceeded my expectations. Staff was friendly and helpful, too!

Clean room, quiet atmosphere. Coffee and pastry in the morning, great place I will stop in again when I need a room.

We came here during the time of COVID to visit nearby Pinnacles National Park. You would think during these times, cleanliness would be extra important but apparantly not. The room was absolutely gross. There were clumps of hair all over the sink, strange gunk all over the table. The bed was very sloppily made. The headboard was dirty. We were wondering if they even cleaned the sheets. Wifi was extremely spotty. The place is also dated but we don't really care about that. The location to Pinnacles is the only positive here, but if I knew it would be this bad I would have happily stayed 45 minutes away.

Room was a lovely rest spot before going out to see vineyards, Monterey area, and the Pinnacles. Price is right!||A big Bo us us openable windows for cross ventilation. It’s very secure and even secluded in rooms behind the main office. Ample parking and local eateries which are reasonably priced. Try the local market on Front St for tamales.

A+ Soledad Motel 8 is an excellent place to stay. They have a real key for the room, the room was very clean and spacious, it was at Christmas time, the lobby also had a very beautiful Christmas Tree their is a garden and patio with sitting areas, stone walking steps to walk around the patio and beautiful religious artifact, statues and some has the history that pertains to them, it was very beautiful and relaxing, The staff was very friendly and stores are all around the area, one block away, all within walking distance. The Garden/Patio/Sitting Area is instead of a swimming pool. I will stay here again on my next trip.

Got my brother a room & the woman attending me made it extremely difficult to check in. Questioned everything I gave her an answer to, and it wasn’t out of curiosity. It felt like she was trying to catch me in a lie? She was visibly critical of me when I spoke— raising her eyebrows, her tone was condescending. I was extremely uncomfortable. I had booked a room online and tried to check in but I was missing something so I went home to pick it up. I wasn’t going to be charged until I checked in, but by the time I got there I had already been charged. It wasn’t even 10pm yet, and thirty minutes hadn’t even passed. She seemed surprised that I had returned with what I needed to check in and her excuse as to why my card was charged was choppy. My brother then returned the next day and he was charged 127 for that same type of room. She gave no indication of the price change. Wanted to confront her but she wasn’t at the office when I checked out. 95+127= $222. Next door is $110 for a single bed room. We chose this place because it was cheaper. For $222, you’re better off going next door.

I needed to stay in the area for two nights so I chose this hotel as this was the only option available in Soledad and I didn't want to drive for 30 minutes to Salinas (what a mistake). I didn't read in detail any recent reviews and just trusted the overall good score (another mistake).||||My first shock was that lobby didn't have sanitizer gel present and the receptionist woman didn't wear a mask. Really? I couldn't believe that there is a hotel these days that doesn't follow the basic distancing and virus prevention measures.||||My next surprise was that they wanted to get 15 dollar deposit in cash for the key. They have real keys, not plastic cards. Some reviews here seem to position that as a nice thing ("look, they got real keys!" - I don't trust those reviews BTW), but to me is that they just don't care to change their locks because they don't seem to care about anything. And apparently the only type of people who are willing to stay at this hotel are those who are likely to steal keys or to forget to return them. At any rate, I didn't have cash, so they waived the deposit (feels like a good experience, but in reality this deposit just shouldn't have been there in the first place).||||So I got into my room and the first I encountered was strong tobacco smell. Both fresh plus on top of that years and years of smoking kind of tobacco smell that one can encounter in an older Las Vegas casino hall. Of course, when booking it said the room was non-smoking. So I complained and they got me another room. That one was a bit better and I realized it doesn't make sense to explore this angle any more, anyway, so I said it's OK.||||The next and the biggest shock was Internet not working. At all. I've been to many hotels with spotty Internet so my bar is really low, I don't expect smooth video watching or whatever, I just need basic read email, open a Google Doc to edit kind of Internet to get some work done (and I have to work over this weekend so this was pretty important). But with the Internet in this hotel I couldn't open a single. web. site. Just no. I called the front desk, they said "oh, the Wifi signal must be weak in your room, that's why we assigned you the original room". This was not true - the Wifi signal was OK, actually. Plus this reference to the fact I asked for a room change was annoying.||||Anyway, after I realized that it's 10pm (I checked in at 9pm) and my prospects are being with no Internet for 2 days I decided to leave this place. So I went to the lobby and asked for a full refund. They refused a full refund and only gave it for the second day. They said that since I spent more than 10 minutes in the room I have to pay for the night. I argued a bit, but it was not worth the time. Losing $130 is not nice, but it looked like they really wanted to keep my money and I couldn't win the argument. I'll open a credit card dispute perhaps to see if I can get my money back that way.||||As a summary, this is an expensive, old, dirty hotel with effectively no Internet and with staff not following basic social distancing protocols. One of my worst stays over last 5 years (and probably ever).
