Special Events did a great job with my wedding! They listened, brought everything we needed and were timely with drop off and pick up! We rented the dance floor, cocktail tables (we bought our own table clothes for them), and champagne glasses! Highly recommend them!

Wonderful customer service. 3 days after Halloween, found out daughter needed a poodle skirt on short notice. When I asked a staff member they were very helpful and while they didn't have one on the sale floor, quickly checked the back and found one in the (packed up) halloween costumes. Great selection of other party stuffs too.

Last night I forgot to get off work a little early so I could get the balloon I needed and cake topper. I didn't want to be that customer that slips in at 559. Well I forgot and I was that customer that slipped in last minute. I apologized right away and the employees where so gracious and assured me that it was no problem and they were happy to help me. Got exactly what I needed and was out of there in no time.

After reading this review the owner, Andrew, reached out to me and apologized heavily for the way the interaction was handled. He refunded the additional costs and Special Events has since updated their tents to reflect color in their contracts.

ORIGINAL:
Special events Alaska was very helpful up until the day came for delivery.

I reached out to special events Alaska in April to rent a tent and many other odds and ends for our wedding which was in August. I requested a clear 20' x 40' tent. They are reasonably priced, because their products are fantastic.

The delivery date was one day before our wedding. They were late by 1.5 hours, which put us behind on all we had going that day. It was understandable and not the end of the world. Their delivery drivers were very friendly and courteous, but the same could not be said about the owner of the company.

The tent that showed up was a white top tent. With much confusion, I reached out to the manager who then had the owner call me.

The owner, Andrew, informed me that "every contract you signed said that you were getting a white tent". Every contract I signed simply said "Tent 20x40" and every interaction over the months left me no reason to believe the tent was anything but what I asked for. When I tried to explain it to him he said "I'm having trouble jumping through those mental hoops" and that "white is the industry standard" implying that as a customer I should know this. He stated "I don't see why I should send this clear tent to Anchorage for free".

We had a vision for our wedding which required a clear tent. So, I caved in and paid the additional costs. He lowered the price to simply cover his costs, but if it was handled properly from the beginning there would not have been extra costs involved.

In summary, they are a good company with good products, but if you use them be sure to triple-check what you are ordering because, in the end, the owner will blame you if the wrong product is delivered.
