There’s enough parking and a Love’s Truck stop down the road. Clean restrooms and showers. Three washers and dryers. Also, there is a fitness room on the second floor around the building going up the stairs.

The gym is great. Unfortunately, not all terminals have gyms .. Great way to vent..thank you.. second time here always enjoy it..

Truck equipment and pay is the big flaws of this terminal. U don’t get paid enough to even afford the medical benefits… they just throw u in horrible trucks don’t even check for damage before they give it to u . They don’t even check if the truck is up to date you as a driver got to check everything before u decide to take that truck cause it better to be picky then be a yes man and just take any truck they offer u then you are on the side of the road. Everything else is fine just the pay is horrible no matter if I got 7 loads done still ain’t see 1k after taxes? I thought I was a truck driver not a forklift driver or warehouse worker? Dispatch making the same amount or even more sitting behind a screen…

My review on my mentor
So since Swift acts as if they don’t want to set my questions of concerns, nor speak with me about the things I’ve dealt with in training, and there is nowhere I can send this message, I figured if I put it in review columns, maybe they’ll finally see my concerns.

Now to be clear, this message isn’t out of spite, or hatred. I didn’t leave on bad terms, Swift is not a bad company to work for, they just don’t have some of the right people representing them the way they should be and getting paid to do. Lastly, this message is for the next person or people that will train with this person, that may not have commercial driving experience, to be trained properly, give them the tools that they need, and not set them up for failure. I just don’t want to see no one get hurt, or possibly killed because of these things the trainer does and does not do.

1. He does not pretrip
2. He does not preplan trips
3. He’s on the phone with his girlfriend from the moment he opens his eyes until he falls asleep on the phone at night.
4. All of his conversations on the phone are in Spanish (I find that to be quite disrespectful).
5. When he’s correcting me on something when I’m driving, she’s on the phone with him. Do not correct me with someone on the phone. How about not be on the phone at all.
6. He blasts music that I don’t want to hear, but why blast it?
7. He’s a slob. I brought trash bags to help minimize the just throwing and leaving trash on the floor (I have pictures).
8. Thankfully I have some experience in commercial driving, but at times he has talked to me as if I have zero clue on what I’m doing.
9. He’s all about speed, go, go, go. This has paused me in doing GOAL, checking the 5th wheel after connections. GET OUT AND LOOK.
10. He doesn’t do tug tests.
11. I hardly drive because he says that loads are late, and he’s responsible for deliveries on time.
12. He is on the phone all hours of the night interrupting my sleep.
13. He’s gone over his HOS twice

14. He doesn’t check the 5th wheel after connecting tractor to trailer

What these driver leaders at Swift don’t understand is that we as trainees just want to get through the training and be over with it. We don’t say anything because no one wants to wait for someone else, that wait time takes awhile. Then the message gets back to the trainer/mentor and they get mad, then they do what they want, attitude is expanded twenty times over, making it harder for the trainee. As a mentor, they go through some kind of training to know how to train. But majority of trainers are in it for the money. Not all trainers/mentors/driver leaders are bad, but there are some that are just horrible. There was no animosity between my mentor and I, he is a good person, just wasn’t good at training. I’m not sure if he was just comfortable with the fact that I have 26yrs in commercial driving, or this is how he is with other trainees. I just hope the next trainees are safe, and learn what they should. That mentor needs to get out with the trainee for every pretrip, , teach them how to plan their trips, etc, because these things are on the list of what mentors are supposed to do.
Dear Swift Transportation, I hope this review finds you, and I hope the mentor that I had is re evaluated to be better at mentoring to keep everyone safe (495628)

We had to stop here for the shop. Carl was great he got the truck in and out in a few hours so we could get back on the road.
The guy driving the yard dog must've not had anything better to do. We dropped our trailer to go to wendys to grab some lunch, only gone about 15 minutes and he moved our trailer to the back of the lot. 🙄
They have 6 bathrooms 3 of them have showers. Ladies they got us detachable shower heads!;)
Decent parking, Wifi, comfy chairs and snacks.
Nothing fancy.

Remodeling is done, not sure when it finished. Bathroom setup is strange, each one is a separate one toilet one sink like a family bathroom. 6 of them, actually for truckers thats great. Nothing like a private bathroom. Parking is usually full, early morning looks like 6 or 7 open spaces. People get creative at night. They have one of those self checkout stores inside. 3 vending machines outside. Some fast food microwave items. The whole place is small but nice. The one thing i didn't notice was showers. Maybe 1 or 2 bathrooms have it? I don't know.

Total indifference towards the drivers, I would even say a bit of racism. I speak from my own experience and from the window and workshop staff. Good facilities and services, only the attention and total apathy towards others make it an unpleasant place. This was MY experience here...

Here’s a thought: I think your dispatchers should be held to the same exact standards as drivers (such as drug testing, mental health, and medication disqualifications). They are making decisions every day that can greatly impact the safety of the public, the drivers, the freight, and the equipment. If you have a driver who is naive enough to trust a dispatcher whose thinking is impaired, it can result in utter tragedy.

Other than certain individuals who I won’t name at your facility, I have nothing but good things to say about Swift as a whole. And I would (and frequently do) recommend this company to new and seasoned drivers when I get the chance.
