If you are looking for relaxing, quirky, colorful fun plus attention to your needs, then look no further. Our rooms were clean and comfortable, breakfast included everything and anything you could want to eat at any time of the day. You could not find a better place to stay where they offer chairs for the beach, towels to take with you and if you forget to bring sunscreen, they have that too. Very accommodating and close to shopping, restaurants, culture, winery, beaches and the outlets as well as the ferry. Such a hidden gem that is worth visiting and we will definitely be back for a return trip.

the place is just amazing with art everywhere. We had wonderful-interesting breakfasts everyday--kudos to Tony the chef. The room was comfortable and clean and just fun. It is 2 blocks from the beach and 2 blocks to town. No need to drive. We will return and bring our friends. One of the few places that we just wanted to hang out on the balcony.

We have been going to the Blue Water House for more than a decade. We had not been back for 4 years due to the pandemic and health issues. Though some things have changed, the same geniality and wamth remain. There is more artwork to view; there are the same opportunities to converse with other visitors in the common areas or at breakfast. ||Breakfast remains quite nice with plenty of fresh fruit, a range of cereals, coffee, yogurt and juices. In addition, a hot serving that could be eggs, pancakes or french toast all with a side of meat (suasage or bacon) was offers each day. Breakfast is ample and good.||There were two little things that needed attention in our room. Each one was addressed promptly. Simply put, the responses exceeded expectations. The room itself was large with a good and quiet air conditioner, cable TV and an ensuite with a beautifully tiled shower.||At night we took advantage of several restaurants in Lewes. As expected, Agave was again excellent for Mexican food. We also enjoyed the bar at the Lewes Oyster House with cocanut shrimp, steamers and a great lobster roll and the Surfing Crab a little north of Lewes on the Coastal Highway. Three restaurants and three excellent meals. Cape Henlopen State Park remains a good choice for enjoying the Atlantic shoreline, just a few minutes by car from the Blue Water House with at most two stops signs between the B&B and the Park.||Lastly, a word about the owner. Rick has put his heart into this enterprise for many years. It is a unique place in a quiet seaside town. We much prefer Lewes to other nearby beach communities. Part of that is Lewes, but a good deal of it comes from the unique vibe of the Blue Water House.

I'll start by saying that this place is probably not for everyone. It's colorful, over the top colorful, and if that's your thing, then read on! This B&B has been in business for 25 years, and exhibits a curated collection of mostly beach related art, nick-knacks, and such. As you enter, you'll notice the brightly painted spiraling (but it has corners) stairway which runs up the center of the house all the way to the attic which serves as a library and game room and offers great views of the surrounding town. ||The second and third floor contain the rooms, each of which has its unique theme and collection of paraphernalia. The rooms we stayed in were ideal for two, and could fit up to four in a pinch, but if you do this, be certain you all get along. If you need a bed as opposed to a fold out couch, reserve an extra room for the extras in your party. We started in the Blue Parrot room, a favorite my daughter who loves parrots, and transferred to the slightly smaller Nautical room on our third night, and thence to the Islamorada room on our fourth night. The necessity of changing rooms was due to our relatively late reservations: for an August stay, we reserved in June. This speaks to the popularity of the place. ||All the guests we met seemed to be happy with the accommodations, and many were multi-time visitors. Speaking of the accommodations, Tony cooks up virtually any breakfast you could want and sees it as his mission to have everyone walk away happy. As prior reviews have noted, there is quite the spread of fruit, cereal, yogurt bagels, English muffins, pastries, granola... but Tony will also do up eggs, any style (I had a vegetable laden egg stir fry on most days), and a rosemary seasoned fried potatoes to die for. He is painstakingly careful in determining dietary restrictions and ensuring that he has something yummy you can eat. I don't exaggerate when I say that this was the best breakfast spread I've seen anywhere including some fancy restaurants.||The B&B also offers bikes for free, daily beach towels, and a variety of drinks and snacks for free all day long including iced cold water in bottles. There is even a station with free sunblock and after sun products if you have forgotten your own.||Rick and Tony went out of their way to ensure all guests were comfortable and happy and are really the ultimate hosts. I look forward to returning at some point in the future and would recommend this B&B highly if you're looking for something unique and off the beaten path.

Absolutely perfect in every way! Our room was beautiful, clean, and perfect for watching the sunset. All three floors of the house contained interesting, beautiful, and quirky art. The location was quiet but close to town, the beach, and the bike trail. There was ample off street parking, too. But it was Rick and Tony (and Ringo) that made our stay outstanding. They were so accommodating and willing to help with anything we needed. And the breakfast-WOW! Tony is an amazing chef and prepared several different selections each morning. The breakfast alone is enough of a reason to stay here. We are really looking forward to coming back to the Blue Water House the next time we visit Lewes. Thank you Rick and Tony for making our stay amazing!
