The hotel was amazing. I was very surprised when we got inside; it was more beautiful and elegant than in the pictures. The manager and staff were very friendly and polite. They even let us check in early. The room was very clean and spacious. The bed was very comfortable; we slept like babies. I have no complaints. We had a wonderful time staying at the hotel. Highly recommended.

Amazing part of history! You have to spend some time with the staff and ask about the hotel. Or ride in the turn of the century manually operated elevator. There is also a museum and you have to ask about what is downstairs. The rooms are small, but comfortable. The history and the amazing lobby is worth the trip! Rooms were not very expensive and we were not terribly far from a winery we wanted to visit. All in all an amazing stay.

I stayed and dined here. The rooms are quaint- very old school. Like tiny.

Bed was great, didn’t know it was a haunted hotel but it was great nothing weird did wake up at 3:33 though which was strange but made it through the night.

The staircase is amazing and you definitely need to see it. Douglas is a great town to explore.

I ate at the restaurant and the food was soooo delicious I will definitely be making a trip back out. Curly fries and a turkey sandwich for lunch.

Background Story:
A couple of years ago, my dad and I rode our motorcycles down to Douglas, AZ for the day and we stopped to check out the Gadsden Hotel. The hotel was beautiful/charming, and the bartender (inside Saddle & Spur) informed us of the hotel's rich history (which we both found fascinating). On the ride home that day, I remember thinking to myself that it would be really cool to spend the night at the Gadsden Hotel at some point in the future.

Fast forward to "some point in the future":
On Saturday (10/12/2024), I thought it would be fun to take my fiancé down to Bisbee, AZ to eat lunch and go shopping. Then, head down to Douglas, AZ to get dinner and spend the night at the Gadsden Hotel.

Timeline of Events (upon arriving in Douglas, AZ):
[3:15 PM] - Arrived at the Gadsden Hotel.
[3:30 PM] - Checked into our hotel room (room 123 or 124; dropped off two small bags and left the room).
[3:35 PM] - Left the hotel to explore Douglas, AZ for a little bit while we waited for Saddle & Spur (the bar inside the hotel) to open at 4:00 PM.
[4:00 PM] - Ordered several drinks (~$65 tab) and visited with the bartender (who was very friendly).
[5:45 PM] - Left the hotel to eat dinner at La Fiesta Cafe (food and service was excellent).
[6:45 PM] - Arrived back at the Gadsden Hotel and decided to walk around town (passed by a nearby park where live music was being played, really nice time).
[7:15 PM] - Arrived back at the Gadsden Hotel and decided to get a milkshake (~$6) at the coffee shop (milkshake and service was great) before calling it a night.
[7:30 PM] - Arrived back at our hotel room and planned on getting ready for bed (w/ the intent of waking up and having breakfast in the hotel restaurant before checking out and heading home).

Unfortunately, when we returned to our room, we were greeted by a massive cockroach inside our bathroom (attached a picture but was unable to add the video I took). While my fiancé and I totally understand this is a historic hotel, we did not want to take the chance of spending the night with other cockroaches potentially hanging out nearby (where 1 cockroach exists, there are likely others). So, we opted to grab our bags and head down to the front desk to see if we could check out and receive a full refund.

When we arrived at the front desk (7:40 PM), my fiancé and I kindly informed the staff of the situation - to which they replied that they needed to speak with their manager. They left for a few minutes and returned to inform us the best they could offer was a 50% refund. Given we were checked into the hotel for only about 4 hours (still several hours until midnight/next day), had spent money in both the bar and cafe (intended on eating at the hotel restaurant the next morning), and really only our bags were in the room during the time we were checked into the hotel room - my fiancé and I found this unacceptable and believed (still believe) a 100% refund was (is) warranted in this situation.

NOTE: My fiancé and I were very respectful when speaking with the front desk staff about the situation. After the staff returned from the manager's office, one of the staff members started getting an attitude with us when we mentioned we felt a 100% refund was warranted; to which the other staff member had to calm them down.

We ended up leaving the Gadsden Hotel just before 8:00 PM and got home around 10:00 PM.

In summary, I would just like to reiterate that the hotel is very beautiful/charming, the service at the bar and coffee shop was excellent, but the room cleanliness and front desk customer service could use some improvement.

This hotel was amazing. My room was on the second floor, which had a balcony overlooking the entrance area. This place has style. For the first time in about 25 years, I was handed a key to the room! My room also had a jacuzzi. I really enjoyed the layout as I was easily able to conduct a work meeting online while at a desk in the suite. I would absolutely recommend this place. It's supposedly haunted, but the only ghost that visited me was the sand man.

Went with friends for drinks and dinner. Prices were not too bad, but I would recommend against the Nemo cocktail. The place itself was just awesome.

This is such a lovely and functional historical hotel. All the staff were very kind and caring, and really did go above and beyond to male my stay enjoyable. I was a bit worried about the amenities due to the historic nature, but honestly the room turned out to be great! It was quite, and very spacious. I would stay here again.
