I would highly recommend Orchid House in Sparta. My family needed a couple rooms for a few days and a third for a night. My parents moved to assisted living a couple years ago and now we don’t have a place to stay. Unfortunately we were in town for my father’s funeral. Julia has know my parents for a long time, even my grandfather. Knowing our situation she put up the no vacancy sign and gave us the whole house, to give us some privacy. We had family coming in from all over. We were able to spend time together to make memory boards, tell lots of stories, play games and be family. She cooked amazing food for us, provided us with ironing board and iron, pretty much anything we needed she had us covered. I enjoyed talking to her and her husband George about our love of old houses. My parents house was 160 years old and the Orchid House was built in 1880.I asked my son what he thought of the house and he said feels like grandma and grandpa’s. So if you can appreciate a small town 145 years young beautiful house complete with creaky floors and amazing wood work don’t miss staying with Julia and George.

What a beautiful and comfortable place to stay! They made us feel right and home and treated us like family during a delicious breakfast. I highly recommend! The Orchid House was saved by the owners from demolition and restored it. It truly is beautiful.

This is such a terrific place, it was perfect for our one-night stay. My wife and I wanted to go visit Scratch Brewery, so we were looking for a place sort of nearby. The innkeepers Julia and George are truly delightful people, very kind and attentive; and Julia is an outstanding cook. The room was so nice and the bed comfortable. We had a relaxing time sitting on the spacious back porch and going to the White Rooster Farmhouse Brewery a short walk away. I am often quite picky about where I stay, and I found no fault whatever in The Orchid House. We will definitely be back again.

Julia and George are wonderful people. The home is lovely. Lots of great knick knacks and stories. Comfortable bed, and the breakfasts were so enjoyable...
Made to order. A perfect place for the weekend. White Rooster Brews within walking distance.

George and Juliet are awesome. The room was very clean and had everything you needed. The breakfast was outstanding, especially the just baked cinnamon crunch muffins!

We rented this room online and it was a great find. Julia is such a wonderful host. She greeted us upon our arrival and made sure we had everything we needed for our night. Our room had a very comfortable bed and private bathroom. Upon waking in the morning she will make you breakfast before you leave for your next stop. We both had ham and cheese omelets and they were great. We will stay again when in the area. Bonus that it is within walking distance to the White Rooster.

My aunt and I, both former residents of Sparta, decided to try this bed and breakfast at the spur of the moment, and the innkeeper was both pleasant and accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable and we had a good night's rest. Breakfast in the morning was fresh, made to order, and hearty! The menu has variety and we learned the cafe is open in the early morning until afternoon with appealing lunch offerings. We look forward to returning.

Wonderful place with wonderful people.
My wife, son, and I went by there to get breakfast, and had some amazing omelets. Along with the good food, we got to talk to the owners about all the work that has been put into restoring the place. We got the full tour of the rooms. They have obviously put a lot of work and love into the place.
We live in Sparta, the town the Orchid House is in, so there would not be much point in us staying there, but we will definitely be suggesting an overnight stay to anyone else who is coming to town, and will happily suggest the food to anyone.
