This is the BEST Rail-Fan B&B EVER! (And I'm the wife of a rail fan) The inn is quiet and immaculately clean. The hostess treated us like family (and we had wags from Sid, the Station Inn Dog. Joshua, who assisted with breakfasts, also treated us as family. I just can't say enough about how wonderful they are. ||We had a room facing the tracks, and could hear and watch trains all night. The room had comfortable beds, blankets and pillows, and again, was immaculately clean! ||The Inn has a huge front porch with chairs and a long ledge-type bar on which to place your coffee! The porch also has a scanner, so you can listen in on conversations between the engineers and tower. Everyone who stayed was friendly, with a comradery that you only get with rail fans. Thank you, Station Inn, for a wonderful weekend!

In some ways it is hard to believe I just finished my 35th visit to the Station Inn since 1998; but ever since that first visit in July of 1998, I have been captivated. With the trains, the great breakfasts, railroad books and memorabilia, lots of history, and attractions such as The East Broad Top Railroad, Rockhill Trolley Museum, Altoona Railroader's Museum, Johnstown Flood Memorial and Museum, Big Valley and its farm stores, and the Flight 93 Memorial all within a 90 minute drive, there is so much to do. Meeting up with friends who have become a family is an added bonus. What I felt from one of those first vists is still true today: The Station Inn is a great place for R & R - rest and relaxation, railfanning and railroading.

This was our first time staying at The Station Inn and before we left we already booked our room for next year.|The inn is located on the road that runs along the 3 main lines for Norfolk Southern and it provides the opportunity to see trains all day long. |The building is over 100 years old, the rooms are very clean, each has a private bathroom, the bathroom was kind of small but hey, it’s good enough for taking care of business.|The rooms don’t have air conditioning however we stayed in the Erie Room located on the backside of the building and with the fans on and the windows open we slept very comfortably. Breakfast was provided each morning, it offered a main entree along with plenty of choices of fresh fruit and pastries. |By far the best part of the inn is the front porch, this is where everyone congregates, watching the trains and sharing stories. We arrived and were instantly greeted by a porch full of guests who frequent the inn so much they welcomed us and even showed us how to check in, LOL. |The Station Inn definitely gives you a sense of what “small town” living is like.On the same street you can find ice cream, a laundromat, a beer store just around the corner, and a few restaurants that have some pretty good food. When you check in Pat and her dog Sid will make you feel right at home.

With a wide front porch for train-watching, plus proximity to the Horseshoe Curve and numerous historic RR attractions, and piles of railroading books to explore, The Station Inn is the ideal B&B for railfans. And perhaps best of all? Talk trains with other guests over scrumptious, hot breakfasts. You’ll find the staff are welcoming and gracious; the guestrooms are comfortable and come in a variety of configurations; the wifi is super-reliable; and it’s just a short stroll to great ice cream and no-frills dining.

What an amazing place! A perfectly themed bed and breakfast for the train enthusiast at heart! The Inn is located in Cresson, PA at the top of the mountain, which makes for a perfect home base if you just want to stay there and watch trains or if you want to venture out and find different shots. Horseshoe curve is roughly 15 minutes to your east and the Cassandra Overlook is roughly 15 minutes west. There's also plenty of neat spots to stop at inbetween as you'll see in my pictures soon. Front street has everything you need. You can stop at the The Brick on Main for a very reasonably priced dinner for the size or go a little further to Vito's Pizza for a delicious slice! There's a beer and liqour store around the corner, an a Sheetz right down the way. The best part is verything is within walking distance too. The Inn has a great host, friendly staff, good breakfast, and fantastic front porch to kick back and watch Norfolk Southern parade up and down the mountain. If you ever get a chance to experience this place, you will not regret it! We will definetly be back!

This was our first time staying at the Station Inn. If you love to watch trains and are a train buff, then this is the place for you! Sitting right across from the three tracks mainline of the Norfolk Southern Railroad you have plenty of action all the time. We lost count of the trains we saw but the Inn Keeper said they averaged around 50 trains a day. And this is day and night. They have a long front porch on the Inn with rocking chairs to sit in with a counter that you can bring take out from the local restaurants and eat right there on the porch as the trains roll by. The rooms are nice and clean, and you can get rooms facing the tracks. they have different arrangements for the number of guests that are in your party. It's a bed and breakfast so they cook up a nice breakfast for you each morning too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to a return trip in the future.
