👍 Reviews of Trawick International

I purchased travel insurance through them because my husband and I were traveling during hurricane season. We had planned a quick trip to Disney before our cruise, but the airport and parks closed (due to the hurricane). We filed a claim for our nonrefundable tickets (since we were able to adjust most everything).
I submitted all necessary documents-then heard nothing. A month goes by and I get an email saying I need to show additional proof, which I submitted. Again-hear absolutely nothing, then another email requesting the same documents (which I sent again). This happened before Christmas. I finally got an email about 2 weeks ago that my husband’s claim is pending adjustment, but nothing about mine. I have called customer service and have been told that everything is under review and couldn’t be given any more updates.
If you are shopping around for travel insurance, do not pick them!!

This insurance company is terrible. I submitted all required medical documentation that I had COVID and was unable to take a hiking trip and they declined my request for reimbursement. I even used their exact forms. I would NEVER use them again. What is the point of getting travel insurance if you are not covered when you get sick?

For those considering travel insurance, I would recommend exploring other options before choosing Trawick International and their claims processor, SureGo. My experience with their claims process has been unnecessarily prolonged and frustrating.
I filed a claim on October 15, 2024, due to a death in the family that prevented me from traveling. The documentation was submitted in full, and the circumstances were straightforward. However, as of February 25, 2025, I have yet to receive the reimbursement.
Under Texas state law, insurance claims must be acknowledged within 15 days and must be accepted or denied within 15 days. In my case, these deadlines were not met.
A few key issues with the claims process:
Lack of transparency – There is no clear way to escalate concerns beyond customer service. Attempts to speak with a supervisor or claims adjuster have been unsuccessful.
Slow response times – Emails often go unanswered, and updates on the status of the claim are vague.
Delays with no resolution – Despite following up multiple times, I continue to receive generic responses such as "it is in process" without any indication of when a decision will be made.
While I understand that claims processing can take time, this extended delay exceeds reasonable expectations and the requirements set by law. If you are considering travel insurance, it may be worth looking at providers with a more efficient and responsive claims process.

I would have given them 0 stars. Very unprofessional customer service. There is no way to speak with claim examiners.
Our flight was cancelled by an airline last minute. We were forced to book a new flight just to get home on-time from our Italy vacation. That cost us additional $3084. Since the flight was cancelled by Lufthansa and we spent extra just to get back home, I submitted a claim to get $3084 back.
After 7 months of reviewing my claim, my claim was declined for the reason that we "managed to get back home on time and there were NO trip interruption as such". They just ignored, that I have spent additional $3084 which should be covered by insurance. Very disappointed! Will NEVER buy Trawick again!

Their overall score says it all, 2.9. I filled out all the fields they require, they asked for more I sent more. Four weeks later they want at least another 2,3 hours of work on my part scanning bank statements front and back. I don’t get paper statements, so it’s not even possible. Our trip got delayed because London Heathrow had a huge power outage and our plane was denied landing. If they won’t cover for that, then then what would qualify? I claimed less than $400, you’d think it was thousands. I have used them twice, this time had to file a claim, never again. Do not use them.

I purchased travel insurance through Trawick last year for a trip to Italy. I filed a claim on 10/4/2024 and got a denial on 2/19/2025 - four months. I am not as upset about the denial as I am with the customer service (lack of) that I received. I called after my trip and asked the agent if I had a good claim and if it was worth filing it. I knew the criteria when I asked so I explained what had happened and was it a valid claim. Agent said yes I should go ahead and file it. Then I waited a good long while and finally called (several times) and got a runaround each time. I called Surego (they process the claims). Didn't matter who I talked to they were very unhelpful and very not able to give me any answers except pat answers that they probably give to everyone. I went through all that because the first person I talked to lead me to believe I had a reason to file a claim. Worst customer service I have every received. That says a lot given the current climate with bad customer service most places. If I were you (traveler) I would go somewhere else.

I always purchased travel insurance with trawick international and finally the time came when I had to submit a claim. We had to cancel our trip last minute due to health issues. I submitted our claims in January and the company approved them in the beginning of April. The wait was a bit long but the process was easy and they didn't ask for any additional paperwork either. Thank you trawick international!

In preparation for our big European trip last year we needed to get travel insurance While looking at several firms we came across TRAWICK. They have a very good ANNUAL policy. Since we are planning a few trips each year it was a great fit for our needs. In Italy we needed outpatient surgery. (They don't accept any US insurance, none, nada!) Since our regular US health insurance covers international care we filed our claims with them first. It took our US insurance 8 months to review and reject all of our medical expenses which were for only $380. (Had we gotten care in the US the bill would have easily been 10-20 times more.) We then filed a claim with Trawick. It was processed and a full payment was approved in 4 business days. The check arrived just a few days later. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. EXCELLENT COVERAGE. GREAT VALUE.
