The Tulelake-Butte Valley Fair is a bit of a diamond in the rough as far as county fairs go. It's likely smaller than most of the county fairs one might be accustomed to within the Northern California/Southern Oregon regions. Although small, this fair definitely makes up for it's overall size with incredible character. It's a dry fair, which may be a turn-off for some younger folks, but for family centered fair-goers this is a bonus, as the entire atmosphere is much more low key and lacking the rowdy nighttime scene many other alcohol serving fairs suffer from. There are extensive livestock exhibits, an impressive carnival and rides, along with many fun and entertaining events throughout the duration of the fair to keep you busy should you choose to visit. One thing I have to recommend is the world class fries. As you may or may not know, Tulelake is quite the place for growing excellent potatoes (and radishes). I can't remember the exact name of the food vendor but it was a local booth and they basically dealt in baked potatoes, burgers and fries and nothing else. Boy howdy let me tell you right now, those fries are the best I have ever had in my life and I've ate a lot of fries mind you! For one dollar I got a brown bag chock-full of perfectly fried, and salted fries. You don't even need ketchup these fries are so damn good. Something about fresh made fries from a potato that was literally just dug up a few miles down the road, that blows McDonald's crap outta the water. Anyway, go support this small town, all American county Fair this September. You won't regret it.

Great area to have a special event, you have to decorate it yourself, but who wants someone else to choose your decor.

It was very nice and well put together. It's the only one we go to , we travel 26 miles to get there and it's well worth the ride.

This is a well maintained county fairgrounds RV park. The overnight fees vary by services wanted. From just a space to park and sleep to full hookups with sewer electric and water. No Wifi password was available so we had to rely on our phones to check mail and re-plan routes due to changing road conditions but don't let this one thing be a reason to pass this place up! It's quiet and safe.

Y'all did a great job with the fair this year. I did seem that there were significantly less vendors this year. But all the good ones were there. The carnival was excellent and slaughtered the klamath county fair. The price of the ride bands were more than fair and the cost to ride with tickets was not bad. The ride attendants were awesome as well. Looking forward to seeing you all next year.b

This used to be a Great little fair. However, it's being run into the ground like a derailed freight train. The commercial buildings now have very few vendors. One can only assume the fair board is charging them way to much to be there. The result to us are very high prices. Outside, vendors like the Thai food people have raised their prices so much, they have no custoners. Their "Fair Special" is now $15. Pleade see the photo I've posted with their food trailer and not a single customer. This was taken at dinner time, Saturday evening. In years gone by, their line to order took us 30 minutes just to get to their counter.
If the state of California is reading this, it's time to reorganize your fairs, replace your individual boards and managers with some kind of regional system, and decrease costs to both us, your point of market customer and especially to your vendors
