Aside from all the walking to get there, it was very interesting and worth the visit. They had it set up to look like it was when Washington used it. Inside, I only thought about getting a picture of the kitchen. You can go upstairs using the original handrail too. Best part of all of it: it was free. They also had 2 park rangers telling you about the house inside.

Fascinating historical area where George Washington spent the winter of 1777-78 with 12,000 of his troops, 2,000 of whom died of disease, exposure, malnutrition. Lots of interesting buildings, some original and some reconstructed. Lots of interesting artifacts and descriptive posters. Beautiful place for a hike on a sunny October day with the leaves changing color. Helpful, friendly, informative staff. Vince gave us suggestions to match our available time and interests, marked up a map for us, and gave us some helpful additional info on how to access the history movie at home if we didn’t have time to watch it today.
The volunteer in Washington’s headquarters was also very informative and friendly.

So much history! Coming in December helped put the hardships these men and women faced in more perspective. The staff were extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly.

We have been visiting Valley Forge National Park since I was a child. There are 3,500 acres of meadows, woodlands and monuments of the Revolutionary War.
It is the encampment site of General George Washington and the Continental Army during the winter of 1777-1778.
You can drive through yourself, bring your own bike or rent one there, run, walk or take a trolley tour. The trolley tours are about 90 minutes.
The Visitors Center is free to walk through to explore the Valley Forge Encampment museum exhibits full of knowledge and artifacts. It is child friendly. There is even a free informative short film of the encampment. The Visitors Center has a gift shop for souvenir collectors.
You will see log huts where the soldiers in the "life guard" camped, cannons, statues, the grave of the unknown soldier and the beautiful structural Arch, the horse stables and the covered bridge. There is a path to walk aside of the covered bridge along Valley Creek. Slightly off that path, for the adventurous, you can climb up to an old Spring Bottling Plant that still has running water!
The Washington Memorial Chapel is located inside the park. You can walk through or even attend during service times.
Valley forge is located in Pennsylvania. Be prepared to spend the day. You can bring or buy snacks. There is a picnic area along with bathrooms located through the park. You can find many restaurants or fast food places located close by in King of Prussia, Pa.
The only disappointment we found is the grass and brush on the many acres are not as well maintained as they use to be. We feel it takes away from the beautiful views. There is plenty of free parking lots to choose from.
A must see when visiting Pennsylvania.

Bike rental area at the parking lot. Bathroom at Schuylkill River Trail was very well equipped. Bathroom had very nice and clean stalls. Map of area was very large and great for fruit photos.

Inside of the visitor center was a very large gift shop with array of priced items that were historically accurate from games to books and T-shirts mugs stickers magnets… The national park service employees were wonderful and polite. The historic displays all about Valley Forge, or a very neat, clean, organized and interactive. They had no line but we’re very kind and helping set up a nice walk. All the grounds tended outside were very well kept!
