Went to the ER yesterday for severe abdominal pain. Got checked in and into a room very quickly. There was no one in the waiting room and they did not seem to be busy at all. Everyone was super friendly. When it came to addressing my pain, my care was basically non-existent. I got taken back to do a CT scan with contrast. Got my results emailed to me at 1:51 am. A nurse didn't come in to tell me they had the results until an hour later. Told me everything was completely normal. After reviewing the test results from my portal, there were multiple abnormalities including a distended gallbladder. You would think someone would inform me of this, but no, I was reassured my results were normal. I would have explained this concern but I had already been at the ER for SEVEN hours, despite it being seemingly empty when I arrived. Was sent home and was told it was "probably just a virus." They never really addressed my pain and instead tried to cure my nausea which wasn't even the most distressing problem at the time.

I am POA and caregiver for elderly mother who lives with me. She spent 3 days in the hospital. The nurse, Natalia was wonderful. She's the only way I knew what was going on with my mother for the first 2 days. Finally got a call from the doc on day of discharge.
Also, info was given to an estranged niece regarding my mother's care. There was no release signed for this niece. I thought HIPPA was to protect patient info.

Honestly I herd and seen a couple of people dying at this hospital . People bein sent home without a full test or scan or exams to better help the patient . Also early discharges leaving people with pain and suffering whoch shall not be allowed . I do not allow anyone to come to this hospital for anything please go elsewhere and not to welspan . I was here and i was told sorry we have to transfer you to hershey because we don't have the skilled doctors nor equiptment here for you and i am thankful for hershey hospital . Oh its prob this or that .... wait your hired to work at welspan and your wild guessing ? How do that work ? Anyways do not come here unless theres a death contract ready to be sick for good .

Went in for a rabies vaccine after a severe dog bite and they refused to do anything without “proof” that the dog could be infected. I didn’t even know the dog. They still billed me anyway. 🤡

I also know they routinely send pregnant women away to Ephrata Hospital since their maternity unit is that poor.

I’ve never really had great experiences here but this one takes the cake.

There definitely needs to be a better protocol in the ER, perhaps use the same method checklist my son uses for his business to ensure due diligence. In addition you really need to listen to the patient. Realizing you’re short staffed, I appreciate that everyone was nice, however, when taken back for my chest x-ray there seemed to be a lot of folks around casually talking. I came to the ER because I kept shaking and couldn’t get my fever under control, it kept going up and down and went up as high as 105.4. I brought my thermometers showing the high temps. When triage checked me in my temp was 99.8 probably from going out and taking Tylenol prior to coming to the ER. Heart rate was high, felt horrible and could barely keep my head up. We were there for about 3.5 hours. The chest X-ray results came in that night; I was told a doctor would come down to discuss. That never happened, they gave me 2 Tylenol and dismissed me. Never saw a doctor. That same evening before we left I went into the portal and chest X-ray results were in, I had pneumonia and that was diagnosed that night. No one told me. I filled out the survey the following morning and explained this and immediately received a call telling me I have pneumonia and what they were prescribing; I told them that protocol did not work for me and my primary doctor prescribed something previously that would knock it out in a few days. They did not listen so I took what they prescribed and got so ill I could barely walk. My doctor was on vacation and his colleague said she needs to take what was prescribed by ER. I continued to get sicker and had serious side effects and warnings that tell you to call your doctor immediately.
1. Listen to the patient
2. With fever that high why wasn’t BW done?
3. Checklist! If there would have been one the proper medicine could have started the night the X-ray was taken and diagnosed.

I finally got someone to listen. On the medicine that worked for me previously and I’m improving.

Most health care workers really do care, although short staffed let’s help our medical staff succeed.

We need to get better!

I was there yesterday at Wellspan good Samaritan hospital in the emergency room. I have to admit that I am so intrigued with how it changed for the better. The technology they are using is awesome and the doctors and nursing staff are amazing and the secretarial staff wow they are amazing. I wanted to add something to this on Wednesday August 28th I had a procedure done at Wellspan and I had AFib and they had to put a tube down my throat to check for blood clots and If they didn't find any blood clots they were going to shock my heart back into a regular rhythm and they did in and I stayed overnight and I have to admit that the nurses were extraordinary especially one on third shift and she made me feel like I was somebody important but a little demanding she was but I appreciate it for what she asked me to do. I never sing and she was determined to have me sing for her and I did sing for her one line of a song I love. I thank everyone there for the excellent job and compassion they share and I have to admit that Wellspan good Samaritan hospital has come along way since I was born there and I'm impressed with all the different changes of technology and the staff is excellent and respectful but most of all they put a smile on my face as I did theirs. So I want to say thank you for all of your support and respect and compassion for helping me and others

A poor excuse of a hospital. I can only imagine how many people have died at this place, knowing they could've received better care elsewhere. The system needs to do better, the board members need to do better, and most importantly, the medical workers who lack compassion, empathy, and effort need to do better. Do not go here unless you want your death sentence expedited.
