Very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly staff. Take time to watch the movie 1st. A great place to learn the history of Greers Ferry Lake and then drive down the access road to the bottom of the dam. Safe stairway to the waters edge just a short walk to the right of the parking lot. Then go up to the upper area and see the dam below and the bust of Pres. JF Kennedy .

Visit! But before you go, check the hours. I recommend calling them to confirm. I had been looking forward to returning to this very cool resource after having been away for many years. Unexpectedly, it was closed on a Monday (2022-06-13). They have odd hours right now, I assume pandemic hours: Fri-Sun 10a-4p.

If you're visiting the Heber Springs area, make sure to stop here. There are many exhibits about that dam, the area, local wildlife, and three movies playing in their theater.
Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, an enjoyable experience all the way around.

Best place to learn about Greers Ferry Lake and Dam. Staffed with friendly people and many free guide books and maps of the area. Short film with seating available to view about the area. Sometimes has small local displays such as beautiful quilts from local crafting clubs. Easy to visit the Visitors Center, then the JFK overlook and save the fish hatchery or Collins Creek hike for last. All are within 2 minute drive of each other and make for a nice morning or early afternoon visit. Check hours as they change depending on season.
